Wow, this place was amazing. I can't talk for the food but the coffee was the BEST I had during my holiday & I tried a lot of coffee!
The biggest point of difference for me however was the lovely customer service! I felt welcomed & invited, almost as though I was family which was lovely being so far from home. To me customer service is everything & these guys nailed, highly recomend!
We turned up on time for our reservation and we're told our table was not ready. We came back 20 minutes later as we were asked to, and the table still was not ready. We waited another 10 minutes to be seated. We did not receive an apology from any staff members from when we arrived on time the first time, or when we were seating 30mins after our initial booking.
Scallops were absolutely incredible, however, the rest of the dishes were average and could have been better. We attempted to give feedback at the end of the evening but we were left with a very blunt "okay thanks" from the waiter.
Overall, it was an average meal and I would be okay with the evening if the service was better and price a touch lower.
Absolutely stunning food and the service was professional and very welcoming. We had lunch on Tuesday and returned Wednesday we couldn't get enough. We will be definitely returning and totally recommend 11/10
From the very first moment this was a truly awesome experience. The meal was amazing and so enjoyable, the food was peefect, the service was fun, vibrant and friendly. I would definitely put Sassi in my favourites!
When I booked, it didn't sound like they wanted us. When we got there, it wasn't an exactly friendly welcome but the Italian waitress tried to make up for it. Food was OK but pricey. Waiting staff a bit in your face. Every time they passed, they asked whether we were enjoying. We were pleased to leave. We won't be back.
Music distracting for at table conversation. Explanations of specials in Italian English could not be clearly heard or understood. The menus printed in grey ink could not easily be read in the dim light. Choice of the the most expensive T-bone steak was a great mistake as it was uncuttable with the steak knife provided and almost inedible. Easily the Worst Steak for price anywhere in the world. The claim was that it was Tasmanian Cape Grimm was supposed to assuage my disappointment and expressed concern that it was meal was not up to their expected standard. Maybe their fish meals might be a better choice
We ate in the smaller bar area but there is a good restaurant there also. The location is superb. We had a pizza and fish and chips which arrived promptly despite the restaurant being really busy. The staff were friendly and helpful. We'd be happy to recommend Sassi.
Had a brilliant dinner last night. Food was fresh and delicious. The baramundi was cooked to perfection! Mango Brulee dessert was amazing. Staff friendly and helpful. Thank you.
We went to Port Douglass for 5 days and I took my parents (Italian living in Italy) there the first night. (Italians dont really fancy other cousines). We ended up going there every night because the food quality is just exceptional. Its freshly cooked so expect some wait.
Service is also amazing. Staff is friendly and takes the time to chat with you (all italians).
Only feedback for improvment to the team: i dont believe chilly belings in every dish. Sometimes i was able to ask for plain version but sometimes some ingredients were already prepared with chilly sauce.
My wife and I had dinner there on 29th December and the food and service was first class. Cannot recommend highly enough. Nikolai our waiter (hope I have the name right) was outstanding and made the experience even more enjoyable. Congratulations to all involved in the restaurant and keep up the brilliant food and service. Chris
Rude staff
Waiter entered a private conversation in Italian with one of the guess!! Then when I asked about one of the dish that I saw it told me it was rude to ask and show him.
Food is very basic, did not taste very good either. Overpriced for what you get. Coffee was below average as well.
There are plenty of other restaurants in Port Douglas, shame they were full!! Now i understand why it was so easy to get a table at that below average restaurant !!!
Went here for a quick morning coffee at 10.30. Picked venue on basis of its location and being an Italian run venue and assumed coffee would be of a good calibre.
Well we never got to the coffee part because we were told we couldn't sit in the seats that we wanted as we weren't eating food.albeit that there was one other customer in the venue at this time!
What a joke.
Didnt have any understanding of customer service or the word "custom". The young waiter was nice enough and explained that these weren't his rules, but really didn't make any effort to keep our custom. No problem. We went down the road 50m and had better views with a breeze on the balcony at the tin shed.with nice coffee for half the price. Good luck guys. You lost me.
