My father was in this nursing home for past 9 months. Recently he passed away unexpectedly, which surprised our family.. He was very sick for 2 weeks and was not getting better. In the end I had to get him taken to hospital in an ambulance. The next morning he passed away. Still have not heard from anyone at the nursing home. This is a very nice place, but medical care is is not its strong suit, not to mention empathy. I have real concerns for the other 103 residents in this home.
If your parents require any medical at all, do not put them in this nursing home. Put them in a traditional nursing home. Their model is based on low medical care and low intervention. Please note that the people who do the basic care including cooking and cleaning are fantastic. The nurses want to do more but appear to have their hands
Update. June 2023. My dad deserved to live as long as he could. They took that right away from him. He deserved a lot more respect, but he suffered. Unfortunately, it is the truth. I am not allowed to say anything more about what happened to my dad.
Mum is a full time resident. The place is nothing like a nursing home, the residents live in a house with 6 others plus a carer. The staff are amazing. Unlike some aged care facilities, this place doesn't feel like an institution, or clinical.
My Mum was a resident at NDC for several months until we sadly lost her in March this year.
Mum was young but had a very aggressive form of dementia that took hold very quickly. All of the staff, from the House Companions, Nurses through to the Management team, were all amazing! Mum's needs changed so quickly and they all adapted to her changing needs with so much care and compassion and patience.
I can't thank them enough for the care and interest they showed Mum over her time there. Thank you all so much for caring for my Mum (Lynda). x
I'm so impressed by NewDirection Care. What is most remarkable is the vitality and joy in the residents, it is so different to other aged care sites I've been to. Their unique model that supports a greater level of autonomy for residents appears to be giving them much more to live for.
Thank you for the private tour. A beautiful nurturing environment in a self-contained community with every service a resident might need or desire. How wonderful to have a dentist on site. Loved the hydro-therapy pool and grocery store. I love a good coffee and the café did not disappoint with great food options too. Having experienced many levels of aged and disability support options and environments for my parents I was impressed with the model offered here. I always note if staff are happy as this is a big indicator of the level of care and support in my books. I was pleased to see the interactions with staff and residents and their interactions with each other. Lots of ticks for both residents and family/visitor facilities. Well done!
