Took hours to find parking space. Entrance to Floriade was free, had a nice time. But the presentation of tulip in isolated patches was not very enticing. But all together it was a wonderful experience.

Not very interesting this year as mainly tulips were on display. Future events should include more interactive things to do or even a sculpture in the middle made out of flowers. The stores were ok but like some prices are a bit high.

2015 review
4 stars. A nice day out, very crowded and filled with very slow walkers. Could definitely easily be improved on through bubblers, more activities. Parking can be difficult. Good range of food - can be expensive.

2014 review
3 stars. I go every year and it's honestly just not what it was when I went as a child. It would be awesome if they tried to go beyond past years. There's a lot to do for kids, I'm sure it meets the expectations of adults, but I think young adults and teens could be a fruitful untapped market. Maybe a nightfest targeted at young adults?

Daytime experience with kids: Food prices- $14 for fish and chips, $8/$12 burgers, $12 fairy floss bag, $4+ Streets ice creams, $7 fish taco etc carnival sort of prices. Loads of pretty tulips (mostly tulips), hamster ball/floating clear ball things for kids were fun ($12/turn), other rides are limited to slide, Ferris wheel ($8 each or 4 for $30), laughing clowns ($10 for 2 turns), spinning tea cups and train. Free reptile petting which was great. Lots of stores but we didn't go to any. Kids scooters need to be stored ie. you can't have them in the area.

This is a tulip festival. It shows about 20 beds of very similar tulips. It has some shops that sell things designed for tourists such as honey, Australian wool and leather belts. You can do the Floriade in 45 mins. Only positive is that it's free. Good luck.

No raised desks to view the beds. Only way to see the pictures is to go up higher - Ferris Wheel.
Where was the magnificent, grand display of flowers cascading in beds from the visitors centre to the play ground?
Liked that the stalls etc were spread about, but they should not be the view.
Felt basically that whomever has forgotten that people come to see the flowers. A bit like the former Auspost CEO forgetting his job was to deliver the mail.

Floriade happens during the best time of the year in Canberra i.e Spring. Flowers esp. Tulips steal the show. Seeing so many people out enjoying the weather after the terrible winter is a treat to watch.

I still love going there, but I cannot give 5 stars. Severely reduced number of flower beds, no imagination or vibrancy, more silly functions and stages. If I may suggest:- Impose a $10 entry fee and bring back the quality that was there even 5-7 years ago. The photo below is from 2008.

I believe this event is massively overhyped. Yes, there are tulips and quite a decent number of them but probably the initial group of people got to it first as many flowers were hit or pulled apart and it eventually got quite boring. A good outing to take children to but I wouldn't come back myself in the future. The night lights were well designed in spots but you would have to do both the day and night session to see both lots effectively.

The best part was that entry was free. We went on the last Saturday which turned out to be bring your dog day. I love dogs but!!!! dogs pooing in the garden beds and their deposits not picked up, most tulips were just about done, not a large variety of other flowers or displays, and the weeds !!! lawns (grass) not mowed. I have been to Amsterdam's Floriade and it runs rings around Canberra's. The variety of Tulip colours was not to bad, but to bring them in on pallets to make a display ??? Probably won't go again, but can say it's been ticked of my bucket list.

A place to visit during spring time for the tulips and other flowers.
Best to visit end September when tulips is in full bloom.
Sponsorship is getting less and scale of exhibition is smaller. Although cannot compete with Holland Keukenhof, It's still a good place to visit to see the nice flowers.
