How the 'other half' live! It is absolutely stunning and filled with yachts to die for. Maybe in my next life eh!?! Probably the most beautiful place I have ever had a nice cold beer. Will be back on my next visit to Antigua.

An amazing historical area on the island. We walked around for at least an hour reading details. The boats that dock here are also beautiful.

Well restored historical site. The $8 US entry fee gets you in and a brief tour. We'll, not really a tour but a guide meets your group and gives an informative talk for a couple of minutes. Your entry fee gets you into the museum which isn't spectacular but well worth a visit with several interesting displays of artifacts from the Dockyards. There's multiple places to purchase souvenirs ranging from t shirts and touristy items to upscale clothing and locally made carvings. Also several places to eat or get a cold beverage that range from the elegant at the Admiral's Inn to the quite nice at Copper and Lumber to more casual at the Hot Spot. We had a very refreshing home made ginger beer (non alcoholic) and tasty local cuisine at the Hot Spot and enjoyed chatting with the personable staff and owner.

Gives a special feeling HISTORY and FUN. Harbour is very safe and protected. It has all shops you need and nice restaurants around. Not far from the center of the village.

The museum offered interesting information about the 1800's mariners. It wasn't super crowded and the layout flowed nicely. You can get through it in about 20 minutes. Go to the bakery in the backyard for fresh bakes like turnovers and meat pies.

Oh yes! This worth a visit to see how the British Navy run and occupied the Dockyard. Allow at least two hours, three if you are eating. Museum is great, quite small but interesting. Good visit.

OK and a couple good looking buildings but not worth a detour unless you have nothing better to do. Looks better lit up at night. GREAT way to see the yachts.

This World Heritage Site is kept in good repair and is constantly being restored to original architectural standards. I enjoyed my many visits here revisiting as it were the colonial days or the days of Admiral Horatio Nelson and the British Naval era. Busiest during Antigua Sailing Week, Fishing Tournament and don't forget to visit on Christmas Day (Festival), any time is good for a visit, even during the evenings.

Many businesses are located inside the Nelson's Dockyard including hotels, Restaurants, Museum, Bakery, Grocery/Yacht Supply Store, Electronic Repair, Boat Sail Repair and many others. The Dockyard Marina and the original ship berths are a popular attraction when the yachts are in town and the general atmosphere can be quite interesting. I found the hike to Fort Berkeley to be spectacular scenic with great views of the Dockyard, Antigua Slipway, Clarence house and many other outstanding points of interest and historical significance. Other trails through the national park originate or end at The Nelson's Dockyard.

To me The Nelson's Dockyard is worth more than one visit in order to attempt to fully explore its many facets and enjoy the historical attraction.

Nelsons Dockyard is The final stop on the Dockyard Drive in English Harbour, Antigua. A Georgian Port with the distinction of being one of the few in the world still in operations today ( with a few modifications of course). The World Heritage site is in remarkable condition and it is being constantly restored using the original architectural building style.

The naval history comes alive at the Dockyard and other related Historic sites in the area (all under the auspices of the National Parks Authority). Many activities on the Islands events calendar has the Nelson's Dock Yard as the venue; Antigua Sailing Week, Fishing Tournament and the Christmas day Event to name just a few. The tourist attraction is opened all year round and there is always something happening. Just a casual visit without any specific event to attend is in itself a rewarding and eventful prospect. The well maintained ground, the yachts and the many varied businesses inside the dockyard itself is reason enough for a whole family visit weather day or night.

I have enjoyed many visits to the Dockyard for various events and casual visits and have totally enjoyed myself and the picturesque architectural and natural sceneries are a plus as well. The Nelson's Dockyard is a historic, scenic and worthwhile point of Interest and definitely worth a visit.

A must visit for a first timer on Antigua. Oozes history. Some decent bars and restaurants. The guided tour is short giving you time to wander and take in the atmosphere.

A little pricey to get in but it is one of the best preserved historical sites on the island. Also, the shops are pretty well prices for touristy stuff. The restaurants aren't bad either but the best spot is the little BAKERY nestled behind the Captain's House museum. The ladies are friendly and for 1/4 of the price of all the other restaurants you can get really good food. I highly recommend the Pineapple Turnover. And don't forget to go to Shirley Heights on the other side of the bay. It's a 10 minute drive from the Dockyard and it gives you a spectacular view of the Dockyard, bay and the island.

I suggest this place to anybody coming to Antigua. It is definitely must see! This place is amazing! It is an important historical spot in the island. The museum is beautiful and well structured. It explains the English era in antigua very well. I had the feeling I was living in the 18th century. It is truly one of the best historical site I have ever been to. The landscape are breath taking. The harbour is quiet and beautiful. There are many restaurants and bar, markets, bakery and more. I was amazed by the accurate restoration of the houses inside and outside. It easy to get to the dockyard and it is a wonderful experience I will never forget.

Visited during low season so some places where out of limits but the views and the museum, Admirals Inn and grounds were more than enough for a good time, big museum with artifacts depicting the Docyard life of sailors, ship builders, merchants, soldiers and general inhabitants During high season it should be a great place for food, entertainment and educational activities

Small entrance fee which is fair for brief guided tour followed by free range of the site and museum building. Lunch across the bay (short boat journey) highly recommended for an up market lunch.

You walk through these roads and alleys and you immediately start feeling like you are walking through history. The buildings are gorgeous and full of history. Be sure to check out the museum for little bits of things found around the neighbourhood.

Interesting place, good tee shirts, nautical souvenirs, and cool colonial styled buildings. The only con is that basically you have to pay eight bucks to buy souvenirs. Kind of strange. Other than that it was pretty cool.

For the history lover visiting Antigua. A stop in the Nelsons Dockyard is a must. Old buildings, forts and a museum await your arrival. Gift shops, bakery and sail makers loft are also open for business daily. Entrance fee is $8.00USD per person. Public washrooms and an interpretation center are also available to patrons. Lawn spaces for picnics and for toddlers to roam free. Cruise ship days are crowded. Sundays normally very quiet.

The best historical place in Antigua, this place is steep with history. If you like yachts, see then in abundance here. You can buy, rent or lease a yacht in January when they host one of the largest yacht shows in the world
