I had gone through the reviews posted here before heading to the consulate and was really worried seeing all those negative attitude of consulate employees.

Anyway, I went to consulate to apply my visa and try my luck.

Reached the consulate early (around 8.30AM) in a bid to beat the queue.
However, security informed me to come back at 9:00AM, that’s the official opening time of consulate.

Went back again at exactly 9.00 and no one else was there in front of me.

Security will ask for your passport to enter the details in their register.
After that hand over the mobile phones to the security team, since it is not allowed inside the consulate area.

Security guy informed me to get the token from the vending machine related to the service i am looking for, that was "Japanese Visa" option for me.

I just needed to wait for 5 minutes only for my token number to be displayed for document submission.

You can’t see the consulate officer behind the desk since, reflective mirror glass is used as the partition. All conversation will be carried out via the speakers.

Consulate officer was not satisfied with the documents provided by me. Then i gave them the email transcript of conversation I had with the consulate earlier, to substantiate my documents.

She asked me to wait and left her place.

After few minutes, she came back with another officer. New lady introduced to me as a "Japanese" consulate officer, since the previous once who collected my documents was not Japanese.

She reviewed my documents, and advised me to fill some additional details to accept my visa application.

She waited patiently there, while I filled the additional information. I handed over the revised one, she reviewed the same and advised the collection officer to accept it.

Officer gave me a slip for collecting passport, highlighting the date and time of pickup, which is after 4 business days.

All in all my experience was nice and smooth and I literally spend only 15 minutes to finish the entire process.

A word of advice for anyone who is heading to the consulate. If you have any doubts, please contact the consulate beforehand via email (all my emails are responded promptly by the consulate) to get clarifications. Please make sure to keep a copy of the email transcript with you, it will be helpful for you substantiate the document submission.

As i viewed other dear once sharing their experience. I would like to add some line with respect to others who had bad experience at japan consulate as they might be true and i will not say they lied .

But My experience of today visit 15.03.18 was perfect . Reason is that i got respect from Security gaurd till counselor officer at window no 3 . Even wondow 5 lady was handling a guy in very respectful manner . Extra respect from sister at window 3 for me as she said that i can sit at ease while she can check documents . Got free in total 10mins Alhumdulillah.

So mine was perfect . And i feel like if u are respectful and true traveler then u will get perfect treatment .

One of the most rudest consulates in Dubai ..
From security to the person who Stamps visa.
I have been granted visa to JAPAN twice before. And they can assure you that they are spoiling the image of JAPAN. The Japanese in Japan were very kind and helpful. They would go out of their way to help you if they could.

I submit my documents and my number was 3012 talked to the lady window on thw right side she is ao mean. At first she i cant apply for my husband as hia visa is going to expire. I told her there is a renewed visa SHE SAID YOU DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT AM I SAYING huh excuse she is not looking properly. Second she said i dont have to apply in dubai my visa is DUBAI but leaving in abu dhabi SHE SAID I AM READING YOUR WEBSITE you should hire a polite staff WE KNOW PEOPLE OF JAPAN YOU GUYS ARE POLITE DONT HIRE MEAN PERSON IN THE COUNTER. I came in right at the opening time, at 9 AM and was helped out straightaway. I found the security and the visa application staff well-mannered, and my application process was complete in 10 minutes. Make sure you have all your forms (list on the consulate's website) prepared beforehand, and things will work out smoothly.

It was very disappointing experience!!
I am bit surprise how come Japan consulate treat people with disrespect and do messy work at consulate unlike what we heard about their efficiency towards their work with zero defect.
We really need to re-look at our vacation plan to visit Japan. Normally Consulate and embessy are the first impression for country and their people. Sorry to say but the attitude of the people working at Consulate was rude, bossy, disguised and totally unprofessional.

Very rude staff, especially Moroccan lady on counter 3, she is an embarrassment to this organization. Apart of being rude, she couldn't advise on documents required and didn't try to make things easy, which is a part of her job.

It's very efficient process. Communicated via email for required documents prior visitation to the consulate. They were friendly as well.

I applied for a visa in March 2017. I am sorry to say, but All Atmosphier makes you feel unwelcome. The way people interviewed is rather humiliating- you have to tell your answers to the mirror window, without seeing the face of the interviewer with all waiting people listening right behind you. I confirmed list of the documents via phone before I went there ( as web's site info is rather confusing). I found out completely different information when I came in. It delayed me. Lots of details will depend only on the mood of the employee who will be looking through your documents. And I can't tell that they sounded friendly. I got my visa rejected without any explanation. Even I had booked flights via Emirates and hotel in Ginza. All requested documents were in place. I were suggested to try again in six months. I truly believe that great tourism is started from first impression. And consulate is an embassy of its country image. I am sorry to admit- first impression was disappointing.
