Very helpful
I didn't go to the consulate. My interaction with them was by phone. I called them, was told to "hold on," got put on hold for 15 minutes and was physically hung up on. I called back a second time only to have the EXACT same thing happen. I had a very basic question but it was a very important time sensitive one for me. I called back a third time to yell at the guy until he handed the phone over to someone who answered my question. I hope someone there is reading this -- please do not represent your country and its people in this manner.
Reading the google reviews before going to the Consulate, I honestly was expecting the worst experience. On the contrary, I was very pleased with the quick service and extremely polite employees at the counters. The two things stopping me from rating the service 5 star are 1) There should be some reference on the website about the "application form". I had to leave the building and go to the copy bureau (which is fairly close but still a waste of no less than 20 minutes). The other thing is the reception. I understand that employees are not robots, but when you're the only one at the reception, taking 10-15 minute breaks leaves a long queue of applicants. The Consulate should hire another employee at the reception.
Worst consulate! Unfriendly, aggressive and unhelpful staff. They even deleted all past ratings which were all very bad!!!!!
THE WORST CONSULATE EVER VISITED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. Especially the woman for the Visa has a disgusting behavior. How can a Consulate put someone so disrespectful, arrogant and unhelpful like her in the Visa section? If I was the consul I would fire her straight. She is an absolute disgrace and embarrassment to Iraq and the Iraqi representatives here in Dubai. I don't recommend anyone going there. They seem to have no rules, nor follow any laws. If they have a dispute with you they keep your passport (Non-Iraqi)! Under which international law is it allowed to not hand out a person's passport over a dispute? Is this the Iraqi way of handling disputes? This will for sure be reported and not ending so easy. We are in a country where rules exist and not people who believe to have power do what they wish to do if they don't like someone. Is this the way to promote your country to visitors and business-people, is this the way how you want to improve your relationships with other countries and non-Iraqis? Believe me that with the current system and staff you keep non-Iraqis out of your country and scare them and put Iraq and the Iraqis in a very bad light.
Besides that: LONG waiting hours for nothing! Staff disappears for hours without informing people waiting there. No service, no helpful staff, no friendliness, no respect for people, no efficient system. Not even a copying machine is existing, so that you have to go on the other side of the road to get a simple copy. Set a system to shorten waiting hours, be more welcoming and helpful, do a good service, attract people to go to Iraq instead of scaring them and putting yourself in a bad light! At the moment it is chaotic, disrespectful and unhelpful! And I will do everything to never go there in my life again. Regards,
After reading all the comments was worried about renewing my passport, but it wasn't all that bad. You call them they pick up directly with no waiting, and he explained all what I needed. An office near by will do all the paper work for you, it went smoothly for me.
1. Need to display clear guidance and instructions through posted notes for clients visiting the consulate. The current notice advises clients to start the visit from counter 1, and this is not accurate.
2. Need to have a phone line where iraqi citizens can reach the consulate through and get a response.
3. Need to have an urgent solution for renewing iraqi citizens passports on timely manner similar to previous times when it used to take 1 to 3 days, whereas currently it is taking few months.
4. Need to have a better receptionist who treats citizens with respect rather than frank humility and disrespect. Fake smile isn't a solution.
5. Need to have special consideration for elderly and children in the waiting area.
6. We are providing a constructive feedback and are willing to help by all means to raise the level of service and reputation of Iraq's face i.e. official mission in the UAE.
Wishing you all the best.
