The duck parade is the best thing! A few hundred well-trained ducks run from the fields to their enclosure while you sip on lovely wine. Definitely a great and unique experience!
Originally only went for a wine tasting but had Matthew Mole later on setting the mood in the background with his live performance. The location couldn't have been on a better place than it already is. Wonderfull experience and even got to see ducks marching in between the crowd.
Enjoyed the ducks and atmosphere but found it very expensive. Examples are that it costs min of R50 per kid to use the small jumping castles, R100 per kid to be allowed on all of them Lovely food available but be prepared to pay for it, pancakes with plain sugar were R35 each. Easter egg hunt R150 per kid for mashmallow eggs. Staff very friendly and helpful just found it all a bit exorbitant.
Relaxed vibe. Great live music by cool artists. If I could record the aromas of the fooda variety of fresh, delicious gourmet and homey foods, ales, beers, wines. Friendly helpful staff. Local farm deli and restaurant also open and serving amazing feasts for the tummy. Stalls galore; from household appliances, African dress to kiddies treats and toys. Not forgetting the cute ducks! The kids and grown-ups just adore them when watching the Duck Run. Highly recommended market. ~Lorren Fairbairn-Adonis (regular Vergenoegd market goer)
Nice 3km /5km marked walking /running route on the farm amongst the vineyards. Saturday market with lovely atmosphere. Watch the duck walk. Wine tasting available. Good Saturday morning out for families.
The ducks were great; the wine was tasty. I'd recommend the merlot or the port.
One of my very favourite estates in the Cape! The wines are superb, the environmental projects they have are so wonderful, the place is beautiful and historic - and the DUCKS! Please, if you can, go and see the ducks marching. They usually march three times a day (10:30, 12:30 and 15:30).
I did the olive oil blending experience as well - it’s wonderful. Learning so much about the region’s olive oils, blending them yourself, and then getting a personalised bottle of your own blend at the end of it - all for R200 - was special. Can recommend it highly.
One more thing: the port, people. Taste their port. It is magical. And they’ll deliver it to your door anywhere in South Africa (and I think the world?)!
I did the coffee blending and wine blending workshop with Greg. All I can say is wow! Greg is so informative and passionate about what he does. He made the experiences so pleasant and enjoyable. A real assett to the farm. I aldo purchased a delightful 2012 cab sav

Unique experience for the duck parade show at wine estate. Wine tasting was fantastic too.
If you wish to go for the duck parade show, pls check the timing before you arrive
We had a wonderful picnic out in the garden. The food and service was delectable. We will definitely visit again!
A beautiful place with top class wine. An excellent restaurant. And don't forget the ducks that's a sight to be seen.
We went through to Vergenoegd on Saturday, the 1st of April to see the market and do a wine blending. My now fiance and myself got engaged earlier that morning and i thought that blending and labeling our own bottles of wine to commemorate the day.
We were welcomed by Ryan who was every bit as friendly and helpful as he was the first time we came there in September.
Upon finding out our story he offered to take us on a private blending experience and we absolutely LOVED the stories we were told of the farm. He is an outstanding staff member and we absolutely love the farm. of course finishing it off with a platter, bottle of bubbly (which is amazing) and watching the ducks march into their pens made for an all and all incredible day we will never forget. Thanks again guys and especially Ryan, for the awesome day.
This is a nice place to visit on a weekend. Take the kids with, as watching the duck march is quite an exciting activity for them. Flea market, food stalls, kids play area, and live music. Nice outing for the family.
Lovely estate with great food (platters for two should be sufficient for most occasions) and good wine. Added benefit of parading ducks.if you for some reason don't like Indian Runner Ducks i wouldn't bother going as they number almost a thousand. If you do and like the idea of seeing them parade about then check the website parade times to avoid being disappointed.
Delicious picnic baskets & amazing picnic setting under the trees with the geese. Excellent service
