If you haven't yet been to the Umgeni River Bird Park it is well worth making a trip there! Something for everyone; be it sitting in one of the enclosures and watching the magnificent and brightly coloured bird life filling the trees around you or even sitting on your shoulder; or walking through and admiring the wide variety of local and international species; spending some time in the nursery with the new arrivals; or sitting having an amazing cappuccino or beverage while the kids play on the swings, jungle gym or jumping castle. A must though is to go watch the bird show. Really a treat for young and old. We went with the family ranging from our 2 year old right through to great granny at 89! We will be back for sure.

Thoroughly enjoyrd an outing with my kids. Not to busy but according to the conservation officer in season gets really busy. Unfortunately we went in the breeding season and the aviaries were closed.

A great place, very informative with fascinating bird life. We visited in the spring and there was quite a bit we couldn't see due to nesting which was a shame. I understand why this is necessary but a little warning online/on entry would be appreciated.

Lovely bird park with bird shows, walk in aviaries and feeding with some rare and colourful and strange birds. With my favourite being the nicobar pigeon

Always a fun time to be had at the Umgeni River Bird Park. An honour to have watched show manager, Greg Pitts', last free flighted bird show. Not the last time I will be visiting for sure!

A fantastic experience for all ages. Make sure you catch the bird show. This is a must for everyone at least once and if you have kids, they'll love it everytime you take them and it won't break the bank.

A lovely outing for the whole family. There is a spectacular bird show on offer and the birds in the park are magnificent, including endangered species and those that are rare and not native to KZN or even SA. Very reasonably priced with a coffee shop and clean toilet facilities.

Best kept secret in Durban. Reasonable, well kept and the birds are truly well loved. Includes a free bird show twice a day, don't miss it!

Great look at bird life across the continent and globe with some fun extras to differentiate itself from a normal zoo - like feeding lorikeets or the free flight show. Well with a visit.

The park is not in great condition but the birds are. There are lots of different species of birds to see and maybe you might even get to touch one in the extraordinary venue. Definitely a place on the bucket list for Durbanites and Durban visitors.

An interesting selection of birds, with 3 large walk-in cages, and many separate large averies. Nicely maintained park. A bird show is also featured at certain times (check the time before visiting if you want to see the show). Great kids playing area and cafe restaurant. Lots of parking, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Recommended for family visits or couples.
