5 Star view 1 Star service. The rooms are dirty , broken tiles grouting , Doors and windows don't work or are in a state of disrepair
Staff are like robots and don't greet or interact with guests.
The breakfast is completely budget type with only the most basic food slapped together . Obviously no one was taught how to cook bacon or make a fresh fruit salad in the midst of a tropical fruit growing region.
No service or management in site during meals .
They advertise free WiFi but it is only for the fortunate few that get to experience this feature in closer proximity to the main building.
All in all it left a bad taste , and definitely not worth the rate of R1495/night

I just had the perfect wedding at the Estuary. They took all the hassle out of the setup, the food was spectacular, the rooms were comfortable and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommend the Estuary!!

We got married here; the staff was awesome and indulged my bridezilla tendencies ! Wonderful food; we had a four course meal. All round lovely venue. Our guests are still raving about our wedding. The only let down was the honeymoon suite which lacked charm and was rather basic. My husband had rented out a villa which was stunning. We ended up spending our honeymoon night there instead.

A beautiful slice of KZN coast for a family holiday. Great accommodation options. Good kids facilities . Great view. Good position. And a pool bar that serves great cocktails.

Restaurant at hotel. Priced slightly above market. Menu not too bad, but not really gourmet oriented. Not much competition in the area though. Get your breakfast, lunch or dinner and enjoy, but make sure you check your bill before you pay. Waiters are there for the tips, and not really to be of service.

Hotel is ok. The fish eagle restaurant though is another story. Ordered a well done fillet steak, the thing was practically alive on my plate. Terrible experience. Won't be going back ever.

I always love spending time at the Estuary the reception staff are very accommodating and welcoming. The prices are affordable. The hotel rooms and chalets are spotless. The dining staff are caring and child centred and such a great help. Thankyou for ur great hospitality .What an inspiration to other hotels in South Africa! Well done !

A great place for a venue, has great views; on the lagoon, remember to ask for a sea-facing room. Not essential, but I love the sea. Great for families. You get the 5 star location at a 70% discount. I could not get the WiFi to work in the room, so go prepared 'Vodacom' & Mtn both worked with a little ingenuity. Using my phone as a WiFi. I set it up on the balcony, just managed to get LTE working! Obviously if you not working the WiFi in the lounge or hotel bar is more than adequate. Has a fairly good menu. Not fantastic but I like fantastic. More than adequate. I didn't like the tray charge 'on principal' but remember it can be a long walk, especially with a heavy tray & not all people are generous tippers. I on auto compare it to a 5 star European resort. It had the looks. Like a beautiful lady who speaks broken English. Stupid comparison. Don't expect hotel school service. Expect efficient, friendly, helpful if that makes any sense. It's got a few channels DSTV. Enough! The food is wholesome. Good enough but if you looking for michilin stars change your paradigm! Look up and see stars without a thousand years of coal burning fireplaces.
No rye bread, who liked sour dough or rye bread anyway. If this review sounds negative then it's wrong as I have already booked to go back in a few weeks! Remember if like me you on a budget. I paid only R99.00 more including breakfast then what it cost at a guesthouse without any bar/restaurant in a dump in Kroonstad. You cannot compare. For the record, even if you addicted to gambling. Don't be stupid & pay double at the Wild Coast Casino. Rather drive to the most depressing casino I have ever seen. Seriously the TV, internet no room service. You have a choice of 10 fast food joint's. Maybe if you from the USA go! I would not recommend the dump (Casino) to my enemies.
ps. Book directly, these booking services talk rubbish & increase the rate by 45% If you in Port Edward go to the Estuary! Trust me I have been to the casino. Recommended.

If it's all about location, location, location alone, The Estuary Hotel gets five stars, but the accommodation, staff and meals are great too!!

Best part of Port Edward. Seriously this is not a 5 star hotel, with 3 star Michelin certified restaurants or Swiss hotel school trained service.
For the prices unbelievable, with 5 star views, 5 star attitudes, friendly professional etc. The food is good enough, the Cape Dutch Architecture beautiful, the rooms great phone, bar-fridge, DSTV etc. Great place for a function! It surely looks the part of one of the best South African hotels but its not the Plettenberg or Mnt Nelson, but remember you are not paying ++ ZAR 3800.00 pppn. If that is correct. Affordability 100% Worth traveling to Port Edward. Highly recommended.

If you are looking for relaxing get away, that is peaceful and with really good food then
This is the place to go too. This is one of the best hotels I've been too thus far, as you enter you feel yourself unwinding . The rates are very reasonable and the food is delicious . Friendly and helpful staff. The spa is must. Wild coast is literally 5 minutes away and they also offer a shuttle to the beach , however if you like walking and exploring it's 5 minutes. The place is also extremely safe and nature is right outside your door.

An absolutely lovely hotel with the most awesome views of the ocean. Have only had lunch on 3 occasions and food is fantastic. Unable to comment on accommodation as have not stayed over but looks good.
