Stunning scenery. Make sure you request a table as close to the aquarium window as possible. Unforgettable experience. The food is outstanding and the wine selection is superb. Parking is a breeze and constantly monitored by security so you can feel at ease during your evening.

Menu has changed from our last visit. Curry is gone. My salmon was good but hubby chicken was over cooked. Would have awarded 3 stars but eating in a shark tank, earns a four.

After being seated upstairs (asked as well) only to be told they are doing "maintenance", myself and my partner were moved downstairs which did not have the vibe of a fine dinning experience. The place opened at 12pm and for a place like this why they did not have "maintenance" come in before makes me question this statement. The upstairs was very nice and I felt comfortable once seated but the downstairs area is too gloomy and detracted from the experience very quickly. No food was ordered and was a waste of time.

Cargo Hold has lost its appeal after their recent renovation.
It use to be a great place to take visitors from abroad or out of town for an evening out.
Now it is just another restaurant with a very limited menu.

We were met with a very unhelpful foh member who was clearly untrained in letting people know that children are banned. So bizarre. Makes no sense.

I have waited years to dine at this restaurant it was so worth the wait. From friendly staff to a lovely atmosphere, they gave us a table right next to the sharks tank a very generous gesture from the staff after there was a cancelation. Fast service and the food was more then I expected from what I thought was going to be a small portion of a meal I ended up giving half of it to my husband. Thank you team from The Cargo Hold for a wonderful memory to add to the books.

No children under 12 in the evenings - bizarre and very disappointing! This is not a 5 star, uber-classy venue. Sure it's nice but not that smart.

So we were trying to book a 6pm table for our Wedding Annivarsary; 2 adults and 2 children 4 and 5 years old, both of which are very well behaved.

    They wouldn't take the booking.

So I called back a short while later to discuss this with the manager only to be told that they're 'in service' so I can't talk to the manager.
Surely being 'in service' could include a brief and important telephone conversation?

Tried calling back to ask why I cant talk to a manager 'in service' and nobody answered the phone. come on!!

    Totally unimpressed!

The last time we decided to visit for an impromtu lunch, one Sunday lunchtime, they decided to close early because they were quiet.

Overall this is very unimpressive. So BEWARE.
Customer service doesn't seem to be high on the list at the Cargo Hold!

Not one to slander a place but when I get treated in a rude manner by a "top notch" establishment especially one that serves overseas guests, it gets my blood boiling.

Arrived in Durban for a holiday with my fiance on Thursday night. I tried calling the cargo hold day in and day out from 12pm everyday on all three of their numbers they give, to make a booking as we thought this was the place to eat and get the full Durban experience.

Eventually Sunday afternoon around 3pm someone decided to answer. Now I get it places can be busy. But so busy that you can't answer, at least 20 calls a day on three different numbers, especially when your website says book in advance.

So after explaining to them we have been trying to get hold of them for 3 days now, we ask the person who answered if we may book for the evening and they reply very rudely that "we don't do a sunday dinner service". I then explain to them not a problem can we please book for 4pm. And once again I get a very annoyed rude reply back "we are closed". Trying not to annoy the person on the other side of the phone call any further I mention to them as a general bit of knowledge for them to correct so that other people don't get confused that their web site is then wrong and says they close at 5pm. And that their google business account says they close 3pm and reopen for night service at 6pm. So they might want to change it. I then get a very annoyed rude and I'm done with you toned reply "that's because we are not busy so we are closed".

I was not arguing. I was just mentioning that maybe they should change their website and google business accounts hours to rectify confusion of other patrons.

If you don't answer your phone calls stick to your hours you are going to be quite. We were really looking forward to enjoying this once in a life time experience but after being treated like this I won't even set foot in the door.

Really enjoyed the food and the service. Took my partner there for dinner and the kitchen staff were kind enough to make the dessert something special with a Happy Birthday message written in chocolate on the plate :)

Unbelievable atmosphere for an impressive meal face to face with sharks!
One of the best places I've ever been.
