The rooms are way below standard. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is good but not exceptional.

Amazing game experience at Tau Game Lodge. The drives, both early in the morning or late in the afternoon, make unforgettable memories, with all the various animals we could meet (the big 5 and many more !) and thanks to our ranger who was very professional, efficient at tracking and spotting animals (with an impressive cooperation through radio among all the rangers in the reserve) and shared his passion and knowledge for wild animals with much enthusiasm !
Then, the lodge is very well designed and built. Its location is great, next to a wide pond attracting many animals right at the foot of the main building, the shared areas are comfortable, each of the individual chalets face the pond and the swimming pool and the spa are ideal places to enjoy some rest between the drives.
Note that following a fire in the main building a couple of months ago, a temporary tented building has been set. Surprisingly, it does not seem temporary at all and it has been realized and decorated with great care and taste. And, compared to the pictures of the former building, being on a single story, it looks to us much less massive and more integrated in its environment. We hope the plans for the reconstruction of this building (scheduled in winter 2018) take similar care to this feature.
Regarding the food, we particularly enjoyed the diversity of the meats and veggies on offer, and the numerous treats every now and then, including the surrealistic top-of-the-notch breaks in the bush during the game drives. And we enjoyed the very cosy and friendly atmosphere at the very nice Boma, where one dinner out of three is served.
And, last but not least, the service provided by the staff at the lodge is also great. Much care and attention to the hosts, a visibly great spirit among the rangers and staff. This level of service meets the international standards of luxury hotels.
Finally, if only one thing should be improved, let it be the website : it really undermines what you can expect at Tau game lodge.

Full marks are well deserved for this game park. We had a brilliant 3 days there. We were sad to be told that the Tau game lodge we were booked in had burned down but the alternative we were offered to stay at Matla ( the owners lodge) resulted in us having a fabulous holiday. Everything was perfect the accommodation, the hospitality, the food and the stars of the show the wildlife. Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved it here! 2 safari rides a day, saw everything. They treat you like royalty and all the staff was excellent. Make sure you close your windows and doors when you leave as the monkeys are tricky lol

Absolutely fantastic, food was delicious and the rooms were great. People there were extremely kind. Not bad for being the cheapest Lodge at the reserve.

My wife and I went to Tau back in March and had the greatest time. Our ranger Derek and Sam were awesome and fun. I was recommended to Tau from a family friend and couldn't have been happier.

We only did one safari but I would go back to Tau every chance I get.

Great food, great value, great people, great animals and nature.

A lovely place. Beautiful rooms some with unique private outdoor showers. The staff and meals were outstanding. Loved the wildlife. Saw about every animal on my list except for giraffe. Lots of elephants. Had a unique experience seeing lion cubs being trained by their mothers to stalk like we were not even there.
