I have stayed at Madikwe Safari Lodge three times now. In my experience, it is one of the best all round lodges in Madikwe.

Their service levels are exceedingly high, food is always good and they have some of the best game rangers.

Even with a full lodge, you don't realize it because there are three main lodges and one specifically utilized for childrenso you can have a great experience without children bothering you at allor if you have a children a wonderful child friendly experience as well.

We stayed in the Lelapa lodge, my parents, me (15) and my sister (11). What an incredibly special place. Firstly, after having the airport experience from hell and losing our bags: we arrived and were greeted by Clive. Immediately taken in, given food and tea, blankets and just everyone was so warm and welcoming, like no other hotel or place we had ever been to. Elaine and Allen were so helpful in the returning of our luggage, couldn't have asked for better staff.
The safaris were AMAZING. We had never been before and didn't really know what to expect, our guide, Max (whom we became friends with by the end of our stay, if you have the chance definitely talk to him, he's hilarious) managed to find all of the Big Five, aardvark, cheetahs, naughty elephants, wild dog puppies etc. etc. The wealth of wildlife was incredible, especially as it was winter (August) so the bush was dry and pretty much barren. Each safari, you have snacks (nuts, dried fruit, biscuits, guava roll-ups etc.) and hot chocolates (in the morning) and alcohol or soft drinks (in evening).
The food was amazing too, although I think they should extend the menu more for vegans/vegetarians. However, every meal you were given fresh bread and gorgeous food (three-course menu at brunch and dinner, after each drive).
We ate in the Boma twice, which was so, so special. It looked incredible and you HAVE to do this if you get the chance.
My sister and I spent our afternoons doing activities with Marie-Louise, such as: beading, sand-art, games, cupcake decorating, looking in the eco-lodge, track-cast-making etc.
Basically, I could ramble on for hours about how amazing our experience is but it will never be the same as you actually experiencing it yourself. If you have the chance, go. You won't regret it.

Our memories were ruined and lost after our IPad was stolen in the only area the lodge offered internet connection. We thought management would help claim on their insurance or at least offer us a % refund on our very expensive accommodation rates. Neither happened and we are still deeply disappointed with the outcome.
