An unforgettable birthday experience. Checked in for my birthday and was wowed from the minute I arrived to the minute we left. Attention to detail on every little thing. Peaceful, stunning scenery. Food was delicious. Staff, extremely helpful and knowledgeable. A piece of heaven on earth. Luxury defined. Worth every cent. Suites are breathtakingly beautiful and comfy.

I have stayed at Madikwe Hills twice now. Once in winter and once in summer.
I must admit that the first time I saw Madikwe Hills' suites I was blown away. The suites are about twice the size of my fist ever apartment. They are absolutely gorgeous and the beds are supper comfy.
I loved the food and the service was great. The GM, Hannes, is super friendly and nothing was ever too much to ask for him. He is the ultimate host.
I would gladly recommend this lodge to anyone.response / report this review -

Coming from NY USA. I didn't know what expect. Always, web pages paint everything so nice. I can tell you it is a true 5 star lodge! After speaking to both the staff and other guest. I was little put aside. Seems that other US guest Have visited. Some were not happy. The thing you have to understand. You are the bush. There are bugs. People need to listen to the rangers and guest services. Don't leave your doors open at night. It's easy to forget your in such wild place. The internet worked well in room. For emails and ect. Streaming may be tough. The room was more like a VIP room. You have your own private deck, plunge pool and outdoor shower. The Food was also good. There is no TV in room. But found it's not a problem. We were there during there summer months. Chill in the morning and late hours but hot in afternoon. The staff was great. Our ranger and tracker we're helpful and easy to talk too. It was truly a great vacation/adventure. We desided to drive our rental car in. Was not such a great idea. Most GPS don't have the lodge in the right spot and or Roads. (Dirt roads) from what I was told tom tom is the best We used our IPhone. And it was wrong. The dirt roads were not lable as good as I would hoped. They do offer an airport inside the park (20 min drive) and or transport services from The city. It's a about 4 hour drive. I found the drive in the most stressful thing about the trip. For 2 reason we had a tiny car and the gps was wrong. Some of the roads had deep ruts and mud.
Keep in mind it is not a 5 star hotel in NY. It's a 5 star lodge in the bush! Bring suntan lotion the sun is hot. The game drives were a little tough waking up at 430 in the morning. But found the mornings were best. And it's not a safari like six flags. You drive in the bush, it can be bumpy. Hope this helps!response / report this review -

Our 4 day stay at Madikwe Hills was both relaxing and exciting. We saw a wide variety of animals including the expected giraffe, elephant and zebra along with wild dog, lion and cheetah. We knew we were in for excitement when our small plane landed amidst giraffe and zebra on the runway. Our guide stopped to chase zebra off the runway while our plane was flying out.
Our guide, Francois and our tracker, Ronnie were both fabulous. Francois kept up with our family's non-stop questions about flora, fauna and geology. Ronnie would be able to spot tracks and prey from the front of the truck to get us on the right path. Francois could identify just about anything by sight or sound and would always have a book readily available to provide us more detail on a given bird or rock. We stopped to take everything in from small flowers, birds and reptiles to big game. We always felt safe even though we were arms length away from lions and elephants that towered over us.
Our day would start with a 4:30am wake up call where I groggily spoke to Francois (I don't ever remember what I said), we would have a quick tea and off to see the animals. We would then stop at "Starbucks" for a morning snack and reflection. Each location was even more breathtaking than the last. Heading back to the lodge you could have a light breakfast or order off a set menu. Then back to the room for rest and relaxation. Lunch would change each day and you would have a choice of three great options, one always being vegetarian. Then some more relaxation before heading out on the evening drive. The evening drive was always exciting and stopping for snacks and cocktails in the bush was something I will remember forever. We traversed all of the park and we were in unique spots everyday even though we went out on a total of 8 very long drives.
Dinner was always great, house wines and liquor are included and the staff were so nice and attentive. The food choice for dinner would include at least three options, again with one vegetarian option. They were also very accommodating with gluten allergy.
Many members of our group tried the spa and reported that the service was great there as well.
Francois and Kenneth (another great guide) also scheduled an impromptu walking guide for the more adventurous members of our group.
Overall, a fantastic trip and we have already recommended the lodge to others along with telling them to specifically request Francois and Ronnie.response / report this review -
