This is a great, low impact hike with a stunning view of the valley! The first time we walked up it, we took our time enjoying the view and stopping at Crystal Falls and we still made it up in 1.5 hours. The second time it only took us 45 minutes to get to the top of Sphinx.

Positives: Easy-moderate hike for a stellar view.
Negatives: likely to be a busy spot on weekends.
Interesting: beautiful proteas and wild flowers. Amazing waterfall along the way. Add on another hour and you can get to the top of the Little Berg.

We were in a hurry on the day so entered the park at 6 am and left by 7:30 am. By setting a fast pace we were able to get to the Sphinx and back down during this time. The view from the Sphinx is beautiful and you will be able to get some great panaroma shots from here.

The climb to the Sphinx is about 250m - so a slower pace is recommended unless you are very fit like the rest of the group. I'm not as fit so I did struggle, but still enjoyed it.

Take more time and stop and enjoy the views which change constantly as you climb

One of the most incredible place in the Berg. Very beautiful. Very special. Half way up and half way down. Take a rest and head on up to Breakfast Stream

A fairly strenuous hour and a half hike up from the Monk's Cowl parking lot, but the view from the top is stunning! On a clear day you can see for miles. The path is well maintained and clearly marked.

This hike was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the walk up. I didn't realize when I first got there, but you have to go up past the Sphinx and look back down the trail at it to see why it is called the Sphinx.
