A great little rest spot on your hike. I wouldn't make this a destination spot, unless you're just looking for a nice early morning hike, you can get to the stream in time for breakfast, hence the name.
Positives: moderate hike, with great views and beautiful wild flowers along the path.
Interesting: even in a drought, there was still water flowing in the stream.

Once you get to Breakfast Stream the world is most beautiful. Always water flowing, even in the drought year. From here you can go anywhere

Drakensberg in general is such a beautiful area to hike. One recommendation, especially when hiking along the breakfast stream, bring sturdy shoes, preferably proper hiking shoes.

This is one of the most unique and sensational places in all of the Drakensberg. The most pure and untouched of streams, barely 80 meters old, trickles away to the breathtaking panorama that is KwaZulu Natal. Turn around and be confronted by the foreboding wall of solid basalt, led, like a general, by the iconic Cathkin Peak.
Beneath the looming mass that is Cathkin Peak, this is the final resting place of Ruth Botha - If ever there was a person in love with the Berg, it was she. Be sure to add a stone to her cairn nestled next to the stream just off of the path.
