The most amazing place ever, im definitely going back! If u are camping and want peace, go to rugged glen campsite! If u are not fussy with crowds, go to mahai campsite, it's closer to the hikes!

This national park is amazing. The footpaths are well demarcated and makes for an awesome walk in nature. There are so many waterfalls to enjoy (visited in March 2018). Very well kept. Loves spending time here.

Perfect location with spectacular breathtaking views of the mighty Drakensberg Mountains. I love the walk to the gorge though it's really tiring, there you really get in touch with nature. Listen to the sweet sounds of birds as well as the sound of water from Tugela River. I enjoyed the cooling and relaxing water when we dipped our feet in it. The views of the mountain range at close proximity was the best. The staff was really friendly, welcoming and helpful.

Amazing place- definitely recommend to anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to be surrounded by mountains. Well maintained grounds and good security. The only reason we gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the bathrooms could use a bit of TLC.

Very pleasant camp site. Lots of wide open grass spaces for kids to play. Adequate ablutions. Sites with 220 volts and others without. Fresh water on tap. Lots of excellent hikes and trails and many swimming holes in mountain streams.

My favourite hiking destination in SA.
Bad weather this visit unfortunately.
Disappointed that the two Parks board people I tried to ask specific questions from regarding the state of some trails were unable to understand the questions and answer my queries in English.
Ie They were the gentleman at reception plus a guide posted on the hill at the start of the main trail.
The trails I used were in good condition despite much rain.

Amazing Scenery with plenty of activities for the whole family from hikes to horse rides, you can camp or hire out a cabin, or check out the rock paintings for the day. All of the staff are helpful and friendly.

What beautiful views. Camp sites were in amazing condition. Bathrooms and campsite very clean. Definitely going again.

Nice place but doesn't has much to see around. Only good if you want to trek. Come early in the morning to trek 7 hours to see the second highest waterfall in world.

Royal Natal is without question one of the most spectacular locations in the Drakensberg and it used to also feature, arguably, the best campsite too. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. The facilities at the Mahai campgrounds are in desperate need of renovations with my particular ablution block having lose electrical cables and light fittings as well as flooding showers. The views area magnificent but otherwise it is but a shadow of its former self.

This is to my opinion the most beautiful place in South Africa. Definitely worth the visit. There are many hiking trails of varying lengths along beautiful mountain streams and facilities are adequately maintained.
