very important! firewood at the reception/curio shop is R40 a bag. it can be purchased earlier at the first gate to the park for R25 rand, also the first gate is open 24 hours. i did not check the prices of charcoal.
Fantastic camp site, clean and easy to use, friendly and helpful staff. Perfect for kids of all ages.
Beautiful place but management need to shape up! People on the ground doing their best.
Magnificent camp site location. Facilities old but always clean. Parks board should be giving the friendly staff more support
One of the best kept camp sites in the Drakensberg.
Choose between electrical and non-electrical sites.
The weather in the Drakensberg can be temperamental and gusts of wind and heavy rain is all to common. Make sure your tent is tied down.
A short 2km walk and you will be at the cascades, a natural swimming spot with river pools and small waterfalls.
The ablutions are old but 5 stars for always being clean. Mahai has been around for many many years. There is ample hot water and soap and toilet paper provided.
The staff is friendly and ablutions always clean. Fantastic for families and people who love the outdoors. Pick up your cap and explore the many hiking trails in and around the campsite.
Wide open views, good facilities and friendly staff.
Lovely campsite, well run - apart from the ablutions. At R390 per campsite one expects clean ablutions. I was told by staff that they are cleaned once a day; in 3 days they were not cleaned once. Otherwise this would have been 5/5.
Campsite is very close to the Tiger Falls and have plenty of hiking trails around the campsite. The campsite has plenty of trees and the grass is cut on a regular basis. They can do better with maintaining the campsite though.
Great campsite, would definitely come back. Lovely sounds of nature and beautiful views of the berg. On poing👌🏻 make sure you come at the right time of the year and check the weather. Great hiking tracks and don't forget to pack your fly fishing rod.
Best camping ever
