Under the new owners of this hotel, you can expect unhelpful and incompetent staff, unclean bathrooms, poorly furnished rooms and over all a terrible experience. Please avoid this hotel.

Slept with an aweful smell from outside. Felt like there was a coal mine closeby.and had to sleep with smell of gass.hardly slept

My home away from home in Johannesburg. I know all 90% of the staff by name because they are memorable and make being away from home in Cape Town a lot easier. Recent refurbishment to the rooms have made the stay comparable to most of the more favoured Protea Hotels. I can and will always recommend this place for short or longer stays. It is Central and getting onto the N1 to Jhb or Pretoria is a breeze. Looking for a cozy warm-hearted hotel in Gauteng, this is it.

We ordered a smoking room and got a nonsmoking room, then had to argue a little saying we did order one, finally got the room. We looked outside our door and it was the back of a Tata dealership. It is definitely a place to stay for one night for work or something.

They got all my booking requests wrong. Asked for a smoking room and they gave me non smoking. Room was terrible, not even a fridge. For dinner their food was very poor - I ordered a steak and it was rare on one half and overdone on the other. Looks nothing like the photos and our rooms view was onto a car dealership. A few meters from our front door were rubbish containers that stank. I gave it a star for affordability.

Found the service and staff very good. Professional and prompt. The facilities were clean and adequate. However would not entertain my best clients.
