Service at reception extremely poor. My perception is that I was treated and been spoken to in an unecceptable manner simply because i'm a person of colour. Got back to our room on Sarurday night just to discover that the door lock was faulty and couldn't open at all. Stood in the alley for quite some time before being put in to another room on our request. Not a good experience!!!

Beautiful view, nice restaurant , but stickers on your luggage you will never be able to take out. Thanks to the idiot who has chosen these stickers. Please, sack him urgently.

If you are stopping in Mossel bay when you are driving along South Africa's garden route, the consider the Protea Mossel bay hotel. It is a stunning location right at the harbour and centre of town. You also get free access to the Bartholomew Dias museum and park across from the hotel. They provided both private parking and on street parking just outside the hotel. Mist rooms are great but the townhouse style suites are fantastic, you have a full kitchen and a nice lounge with a balcony at the entrance level, downstairs is the main bedroom with another balcony and a huge bathroom with a shower and a big tub. At the top floor is another smaller bedroom with ceiling windows. The have a great restaurant and bar with both in and outdoor seating with great views over the bay. There is a pool and a nice sundeck for hot summer day's. The only thing missing is a gym but they have complimentary access to one of the gyms in town. There is plenty of activities to see and do around the hotel including grocery shopping, restaurants, museums and the harbour so there is no need to use the car. The staff are very friendly and helpful, I would thoroughly recommend a stay here.
