Nibela Lake Lodge is a peaceful quite resort where you can relax with friendly staff but needs more activities to do and a lot of maintenance.

We stayed in self catering lodge. Well equipped but we couldn't shake the feeling that things weren't 100% clean. Aircon leaked if left on too long and there wasn't any Aircon in the bedroom. It was terribly hot and the bedroom fan didn't help none.

The bed wasn't firm so I had a little trouble sleeping. There's lots of lizards inside the rooms but we didn't see a single mosquito in our 3 days there. The water pressure is moody so be patient with the taps. Keep in mind that you can't drink the tap water.

The lodge is situated at the end of a 20km dirt road which takes about 45 minutes to navigate during the day and longer at night. No lights and many, many cows on the road.

The only friendly, efficient staff member at the lodge was Jabulani. He always smiled and moved with a bit of life. The others were lethargic and moody.

Food and drinks at the lodge are over priced and not too good. Way better to go self catering. You have to book dinner 3 hours in advance and orders close at 20:30. You will be billed if you miss dinner and do not cancel before that time.

There's great hiking trails within the lodge grounds with birding and fossils to see. The lake was beautiful but we couldn't see much from our room as the bush wasn't trimmed at our balcony. Beware of snakes and spiders when walking at night as visibility is near 0.

Loved this place! Staff were very competent. Quad biking with Lucky was awesome! Also the food at the restaurant was pretty good except for desert. Bugs in the room were abit of a problem but it's to be expected considering the thatch roofing PS : Use the bed nets provided when not in the room as there are lizards!

Spent an amazing week at the tranquil Nibela lake lodge.
The attention from staff was fantastic, the food was great and the rooms are lovely.

Oh, and the lake is almost full as you can see in the pictures.

We had a great time over the weekend. The unit was self catering but we had the option to use the restaurant as well. We ordered pizza for lunch on the one day. Prices were on par with some chains and the portion size and topping quantity was much better. Area was quiet and tranquil. There are a few activities to do within the resort but there are a number of other places within a short drive for those who want to do game viewing or such as day visits.

Competent and friendly staff. Guides very knowledgeable. Views of the lake and surrounding forest are good. Our chalet was oriented so that you get a sense of being part of the forest- lovely large windows!

We stayed in the Sobhengu part of the lodge (self-catering) and it was wonderful. The cottage was tucked away in the forrest, a view over what was the lake and its remnants The nördlich is magical and there are awesome walking paths around the reserve. The staff were very friendly and I would recommend this place if you are looking for some peace and quiet.

Staff were really friendly and made me and my children at home from day 1. The food was excellent! There are many places to visit around the lodge. Only downside is the sand road getting in and out from the lodge. Definitely well worth it though.

Great place to just relax, but also some superb quad bike trails and beautiful birding around the lodge. Very friendly and efficient staff who made us feel at home and took excellent care of us. It was our 25th wedding anniversary and everyone made our stay very memorable. Thank you to all. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. JG and CAT.
