Stayed here in May, absolutely loved the setting in the bush, it's not 5 star but if you want to experience the true wild Africa I highly recommend this place. Donkey boiler for showering really great. My only small dislike was the safari vehicle had a cover on and we do prefer the uncovered type for feeling more apart of the bush, and especially at night when it would have been so lovely to see the stars.

A rustic style camp with excellent hosts and local game rangers who have an intimate knowledge of the area. If you are not into 5 star luxury accommodation, then this is the place for you.

This is as close as I want to get to experiencing Africa in its unspoiled beauty, sleeping in raised platforms with canvas sides, hearing lions roaring in the distance, knowing that no fences separate me from them. Showers with fire heated water, tea and hot chocolate (I went in winter) on the side of the road. Lion tracks along the road where stopped to eat.

I reviewed the Mosetlha Bush Camp & Eco Lodge a couple of years ago and it is time for an update. I can happily say that a truly phenomenal Eco lodge has only gotten better in the interim. Mosetlha was already a class act two years ago but there have been some significant changes that are worth commenting on. To begin with, the Madikwe Game Reserve has rightfully established itself as one of the premier wildlife destinations for professional photographers and tourists alike in Southern Africa. Within Madikwe there are 30+ lodges, the second oldest being the Mosetlha Bush Camp & Eco Lodge. Unlike the other lodges in Madikwe, Mosetlha offers a truly organic experience of the bush and wildlife. The camp is, not surprisingly given its name, based on ecological principles that are intended to respect, nurture and embrace the wild surroundings. There is no fence around the Mosetlha Bush Camp and there is no electricity. Light in the evenings is supplied by paraffin lamps and the hot water for ablutions is supplied by wood-fired "donkey" boilers. The Bush Camp is not for you if you want someone powdering your bum and pouring the Stolly, but it is for you if you love natural bush surroundings that blend mystically into the all encompassing African bush veldt! Mosetlha has a real magic to it that is only amplified by the wonderful staff and transcendental field guides. The field guides - Jonny, Kgomotso and Justice - are among the very finest in the reserve and, arguably, within South Africa as a whole! They are gifted, dedicated and go to extraordinary lengths to reveal to the guests of the Bush Camp the wonders of Southern African wildlife. I've seen Jonny, Kgomotso and Justice working with a number of professional wildlife photographers (some of whom I know personally) and I know the high esteem that these photographers hold for the Bush Camp field guides. The Mosetlha field guides not only know their wildlife backwards, they have a deep appreciation of photography!!! This benefits both guests and professional photographers immensely. Not only does one get a terrific insight into the wildlife while visiting the Bush Camp, you also get put into the greatest positions to view and photograph the animals! I would like to mention, in particular, one professional wildlife photographer who runs several photographic safaris throughout the year from the Bush Camp: John Stewart. John and his wife Sandy, both professional wildlife photographers, have a spectacular body of work and experience behind them. Whenever John is at the Bush Camp, he always freely shares his photographic and wildlife experience with all guests of the Bush Camp, not just his clients.

It is not a coincidence that professional wildlife photographers like John are operating out of the Mosetlha Bush Camp & Eco Lodge. They know where the best field guides, and superb wildlife in unencumbered surroundings, are to be found. In closing, I would like to add that I have always been treated wonderfully by the owners of the Bush Camp - Chris, June and Caroline Lucas - to the point of being (beyond) spoilt, something that I am eternally grateful for. The Bush Camp is a wonderfully friendly place -- tony weston.

ps. On my last three visits to the Bush Camp I have seen leopards (the most tricky and difficult animals in the wild to see) on every visit, as well as African wild dogs (the second most endangered predator in the world) on every other visit. In addition, I recently saw an AARDWOLF (!!!) on one of the Mosetlha night drives! Amazing!!! They are so rarely seen.

If you're looking for a rustic but comfortable safari experience then this is the place for you! Good food, service and game viewing. We loved the bucket showers and donkey system!

Fantastic bush experience. For any bushveld lover. Brilliant staff, friendly and professional. Food awesome considering there is no power and running water at the camp.
