It was our first time going to Lucky Bean I chose it because of the Google rating. It lived up to the rating. The experience was great. What really stood out for me is how the waiters were so attentive. Not intrusive just attentive. It was charming it made me feel like a 'regular'. For those who are new to Jozi you must try Melville it has a bit of an Artsy vibe about it. Its like Camdon with grooming. LUCKY BEAN is must do for ambience, food, drinks and service

Truly deserves it's high rating in the Eat out magazine. It has a lovely laid back atmosphere where you could easily while away the afternoon eating excellent food and drinking from the good selection of wine and craft beers and watching the fabulous Melville people go by. The pork belly is superb. It would be a good place to take overseas visitors who want to try traditional South African foods cooked with flair as the menu has a traveller's section. Excellent service too and really reasonably priced.

For our first night in Melville/JNB, we were looking for a close restaurant and Lucky Bean has very good reviews on the Internet. So we decided to take a walk and give a try. At the end, we can say that the positive comments are well deserved.

In fact, the restaurant is intimate and nice, the staff is friendly and the service good as the food too.
I highly recommend to try the delicious springbok pie.

I have had 2 starters there and both were excellent. Service is excellent. Very accommodating and helpful. I hope they get Almond Milk for their coffees. It's more of a night time venue and I would strongly recommend a Friday or Saturday night. Also nice because it's large and away from the main part of Melville. We prefer this! It's quite romantic.

False advertisement. So online it says this place closes at 1130, however they pick and choose what time they close. And on tonight they chose to close at 10 PM because they were slow

In all fairness Lucky Bean is not a bad venue but I just feel it's location does not compliment what it has to offer. It's pricy and somewhat upbeat It feels more of a Greenside venue then Melville. Hence it's very quiet.

Great place with lots of options. Very reasonably priced as well. Happy hour is from 4-7pm so would get 15% off their drink selection. Travelers tasting was a bit lackluster but their other starters and entrees are great!!

Lovely restaurant in Melville. Nice interior and great service. We had the springbok pie and ostrich steak which, although part of their tourist menu, were excellent and highly recommended. Only a fraction more expensive than nearby places but it is a step up from them and worth it.

I love Lucky Bean because it's just amazing! Varied menu with great offerings. The presentation of the dishes is just amazing! The food is very tasty. The prices are a bit pricey compared to other restaurants in the Melville precinct but that's because Lucky Bean is a cut above the rest.
Great vibe too, during the day and night.
