Service is extremely slow on the 3 occasions I've been here in the past 3 months. Had to queue in the sun for many hours. Then eventually quite a few more queues inside.
One week you go straight inside, the next week you have to stay outside until the relevant person decides to come and attend to you.
Cannot understand why one needs to request ownership documents from the department, in order to submit it back to them in order to do a change of ownership either. Very poor systems in place and definitely needs to be addressed.
On a good note tho, the drive thru to renew car license disk is an absolute dream!
I got my learners there last week and the service was quite good for a government institution. Expect to wait/queue for an hour before getting help however if you arrive early (before 7) then you might get help fast and ask the security guards. They are fast dispite the given circumstances however the eye testing machines are not sanitized after use but sanitize hands. They do try to follow Covid procedures and the overall service was good and fast
I went through on Monday on my booking date and they were closed. Was told that they close around 11am on Mondays even though they have accepted the booking. If you go on Monday, go early and forget the booking time.
I went again on Wednesday and they didn't even check my booking. For a license renewal and Temporary license I paid R300. The ID photos R80 for four. I got there at 7:45 and left at 9:15. Not too bad.
Covid regulations are observed thoroughly.
Staff can be more efficient on operating hours, they sitting in office yet they open 15/20min later. Also staff do not adhere to social distancing by greeting and hugging one another is not best practice, as well they over crowd one another while working.
I also noticed the room was very hot with one tiny fan. That makes for good breeding atmosphere of any germs.
Overall process went quick. Was in and out within 30min not counting time spent outside waiting for them to open.
I went to renew my driver's license in October. I was there before 7am but was helped within 20 minutes once inside. Went back last week Saturday to collect and it was a breeze. Stood in the queue for 15 minutes and my license was brought outside to the waiting area. Thanks to the staff for their great service.
Dear google seems your AI doesn't have this algorithm "Do not ask questions for this place" based on previous ratings and people's feedback. When I was a kid, I used to dream about being an inspector of police, this security guard lives his life in that dream, equipped with built-in one way communication mechanism.
On contrary, I liked the person who picks up our temp license, goes in to prepare license card, comes out with our card handing it over to us with humble, respectful and calm behavior.
Coming to People!!!!can be ignorant or negligent In both cases, suffering in waiting No social distancing. God bless them and me.
Terrible I went to collect a duplicate registration, at the entrance you are told to wait outside and someone will assist you, then you wait and wait and wait Finally someone take your collection slip and you are told to wait after more than a hour he calls your name and tells you it is not ready, come back next week. Most likely you wait outside for how long I have no idea
6 months to finally get my drivers license renewed.
No phones get answered. No way of contacting or following up.
Absolutely no management available.
Complete disinterest, no customer service.
No Covit sanitizers available. (only a temperature reading taken)
Even with a fixed time appointment, had to stand in queue in the baking sun for over 4 hours, with no place to sit.
It seems that the staff only start working at about 09h30.
No one has names tags, uniforms, or anyway of identifying who actually works at these offices.
The only person that is working is the security lady that controls access into the building, giving customers directions, responding to queries and controlling the access.
I can't understand why these people are employed, why not employ people who want to work and serve the whole community efficiently.
The entire work force at Langlaagte Licensing Department should be fired.
Just about everybody standing in the queue has a similar experience.
Bad experiece.Dont come here unless it is a must.Unfriendly unhelpfull attitude of workers.Invested with agents wanting to do BUSINESS.Lack of control to the extreme!!!
The queues are long due to Covid, but they are trying their best.
Sometimes the service is fast but sometimes it's really slow. The testing yard is cool and some staff members are friendly and polite
Went through on the 18/08/2020 to do a licence card renewal.
Process was easy, i booked for 12:30 on the Natis website when Langlaagte had availability.
Took a printout of my booking as mentioned on booking.
Went 2 hours earlier than 1 hour as mentioned as well.
Parking was plenty, greeted by guard at gate .
Temperature was taken and booking shown.
Did not have to stand in a queue.
Went in and was provided with the form for renewal and was instructed to go upstairs.
Upstairs i was greeted and directed to a chair which was way ahead of the social distancing standards I was fourth in line.
Staff were friendly and followed all hygiene protocols.
I took an optical certificate with so no touching the equipment at the DLTC
except for fingerprints
Thereafter was directed to payment which was also quick and easy.
***PLEASE NOTE, ONLY CARD PAYMENTS ARE ACCEPTED***
Process took 45 minutes with no issues and no uneasiness during COVID -19
Book your appointment
Take along booking and optical certificate
Take along a pen
Tissues and hand sanitiser
* if a temp drivers licence is required photos will be necessary.
**** if you go now in the months before lockdowns are ended it might be less busy
Service is good
Fast ques and very helpful. No cash accepted only cards. Copy of your online booking, a copy of your ID and completed DL1 form required.
I liked the way they control the social distance and also sanitizers are available
Two weeks ago when I was there it was chaotic and then had to close for Covid cleaning. I was there again this week for DL renewal. No long queue, very organised and the staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. I also used the car licence renewal drive through there. Moved very quickly. For both licences I was done in an hour and a bit.
I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was able to renew my driver’s license. Online booking is definitely improving the time spent there. Well done to all concerned.
Telephone response better than the rest i have tried in Gauteng.
Please keep up your customer care guys!
Book online and you will be fine. Get there as early as possible. Don't mind them when they are rude to you, just remember what you came for. Their machines can be disappointing sometimes so have some extra cash incase you need to do eye test with a doctor.
Was not happy because I wrote my learners test on Friday and I passed then there was loadshadding and was informed to come back Monday. On Monday had to join same queu with people who came to book. I feel that there was supposed to have our own line those who came to collect their learners.
Did a change of ownership, took 2.5 hours and costed R180. It was a very quiet day, on a busy day you can expect to spend 4 - 5 hours there and it is very hot inside. The workers at the front counters are arrogant and expect you to know the process, they are so angry when giving out the forms. At the parking there are random guys who offer to help you through the process faster for R50 or R100, I would advise you accept their help as they do know the process well and I have seen them help others. It is very busy inside, keep your belongings close or keep it in the car.
All I can say is good luck, disorganised, dont see the point of making a booking.
Great people and service on 30 August 2018, received my temp drivers and to date have not been able to collect my drivers license.
Got only speedy, friendly, helpful and professional service from the Langlaagte drivers license renewal team. Both application process and pick up was handled well. OK the wait in between was long for delivery of new license and the phone line is not always answered but once through on the phone and in person service was great
Does not answer their phones, is not capable of performing the simplest of tasks. Might as well not exist. Do not I repeat do not visit this facility if you have any alternative to it. If you have no other alternative godspeed and good luck they are sure to rob you of at least 20 years of your life.
A worst experience ever from a Public Service as Langlaagte Traffic Department! Extremely rude staff, very incompetent, no respect towards human beings! I will definitely be laying a complaint with the department, will complain till the staff is trained on Customer Service! Never have I been disrespected in that manner! I Hope this reaches Government
Been there twice in the last two weeks for drivers license replacement and vehicle registration. It's the standard Govt apathy but they are efficient, you'll spend 1 to 2 hours there if all your docs are in order and you go early in the morning. Make sure you have a pen, ID copies and an affidavit/case no if your drivers licence or ID was lost/stolen.
Good service
Been there three times (booking, learners and renewal). Only good service and hence 5 stars.
Latest service being renewal
-Went there on Saturday
-Got there at 7.30 am
-Got served at 8.30 am
-Paid at 8.45 am and therefore done
Remember the following
-Take a pen with you (You may lose 10 minutes if you don't)
-Greet the official (they mostly greet back)
-Say thank you
-Always assume that whoever you are dealing with likes his/her job, is a hardworker, knows what he/she doing and is there to serve a lot of people
- Do not expect or demand to be treated like royalty
Good or bad experience depends with an individual's perception. Two people may get the same service but one will be happy and another one disappointed.
Honestly, I would have given 0 stars.
I have gone to the licensing department 6 times over the last few months to re-do both my fingerprints & my photos. My license keeps getting "rejected" and absolutely NOBODY can explain to me why. The excuse for today was "Maybe the image was blurry" how can that or anything else that might be a problem happen 6 times? It's not that the people are bad it's purely just that.
Honestly sad.
A long-ish review.
- OVERALL EXPERIENCE: not too bad. I came to renew my driver’s license on a Saturday morning, and received a ‘no frills no fuss’ service in just over 2 hours. It could have been quicker if more cashiers were working. An online booking option is available, which is WAY FASTER - I’d advise you to use it. I wasn’t aware of its existence, but I most certainly will use it next time.
- DRIVER’S LICENSE RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS: Bring along your ID, a certified copy of your ID, proof of residence, and 2 passport sized pics. You can also get your eyes tested at an optometrist, and bring the certificate along. This’ll save you some time. If you don’t have copies of documents or pics, there’s a thriving informal sector that provides these services just across the road from the testing center. These chaps can be a bit pushy though. Deal with them if ABSOLUTELY have to. If not, avoid them and just bring the stuff from outlets/places you trust.
Good service arrived at 7:15 AM was about 20th in the main queue. Just after 7:30 AM staff start moving people inside and splitting up queue depending on what you are there to do. Was out in 30-45 minutes on my two times going. Just make sure you have the correct documents as they do not entertain people who don't. Compared to my 2012 trip to Langlaagte Traffic Dept. this was orders of magnitude better in every way.
Only criticism would be on the gov website it states copy of ID but when I went they wanted copy of ID and copy of drivers license so if the website had the correct information it would be 5 stars.
The most corrupt station ever. The instructors are just focused on getting bribe money. They the most selfish ,greedy humans ever ! They don't care about anyone but their pockets. I went to test twice and they failed me, cause I didn't observe which is the most ridiculous thing ever! Cuz I know for a fact that I observed and indicated. The instructor wasn't even looking at me .For all I care you can all go to Hell !
An absolute disgusting place.
So apparently I “failed” my drivers test, and then the conductor asked for bribe money to pass me. When you don’t have it, you’re just ignored. Conductor’s name is a Mr. GEORGE MALULEKE
Please beware this corrupted place needs to be shut down
Fantastic service. Informative. Quick to get appointments. 1 week waiting for test. This is the 2nd time booking for a learner's licence after first expired Better than waiting 3 months for a booking like at other departments I live in Pretoria so worth the travel
DO NOT EXPECT A GOOD SERVICE, OR NICE PEOPLE. Just go in there knowing that you'll be dealing with people that hate their jobs, always angry, unhappy employees that are ALWAYS having a bad day and they'll take that out ON YOU ! So keep calm (VERY IMPORTANT) , be patient, get what you came for and get out, move on with your life. Don't let YOUR day be ruined by miserable people :)
Money making scheme. I went in to renew my licence. And the lady says I failed my eye test. She said I can do an eye test across the road. I paid R250 and did the eye test where nothing was wrong. I went back inside, got my license and just for the fun of it I did another eye test on a different machine and guess what. NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY EYES. Please be careful. Don't listen to these idiots. Fools. I got a very nice word. But I won't use it
I wish I could every day so some1 in the department can actually read this. Nobody reads this from the department. Myb they can't read!!!
Wasn't to bad. Come early for Queue. Just before 7.30 guard will split Queue. Drivers licence renewal you are given DL1 form.
Copy of ID needed aswell. Bring own black pen.
Go to inquires next to enterance.
Turn right go through door way, turn left up stairs to 1st floor. Straight entering hall with lots of chairs.
Go to eye testing first (regardless of having done before privately) to get picture and finger prints taken digitally.
Then turn around and join queue at counters to pay. R228 20/10/2017
R300 total +temp license
Done.
went to register to write my learners there on Saturday and was booked to write on Tuesday. Very helpful staff and everything went smoothly.
I was told by Lucy the staff at eye testing department that i will never pass the eye test before i even did it. She furiously told me that we Zulus think we are clever and that she will teach me a lesson. This after i wanted to do my pdp there instead of Alexander.
happy with the service they have provided, would have given them a 5 star but just that they do not pick up the phone when you calling.
good experience, some staff members there really push to help us as promptly as possible.
I think 1 star is far too generous. Really wish information and requirements regarding all "services" offered could be communicated effectively. I can't understand how people employed here can lack basic thinking and reasoning skills. And there is absolutely no excuse for anyone being rude. Appalling !!
The worst traffic department I've ever been to. I have experienced extreme disrespect from the staff at Langlaagte. I am disgusted and shocked at the service they render to the public. I have been to this traffic department on numerous occasions and the staff are so unhelpful and give you wrong information. They are only willing to help certain people, and completely ignore you while you are standing in front of them asking for help. I was assisted very grudgingly by one of the staff, who was very racist and sexist towards me. I was told that ladies never get this right and they always want automatic. He rushed from the start of my drivers test, did not let me complete my inspection or parallel parking and unnecessarily deducted points while doing these, and failed me within five minutes. He shouted at me saying he knew I was going to fail, when from the start of my test it seemed as if he intended to fail me on purpose. I have been very polite every time I have visited the traffic department but on every visit I have been treated in a very rude manner, and the staff just seem to not care. I find that for an institution rendering a service to the public, their behavior is so pathetic. I would not recommend this place to anyone wishing to do their learners or drivers.
Absolutely disgusted by their nonchalance towards the public. I called to enquire what time they will be closing, was told 3pm but on my arrival at 2:30 found the place closed with the excuse that they received an email telling them to close at 11 am. PITY they didn't know that when I called them after 11probably decided it would suit them to go home earlier and stuff the rest!
Overall it's ok. But there are so many touts nearby. One time I was cheated 1000 rand for nothing.
BTW, I am going to take the test on 29th, wish me good luck.
Guess that their phone is only for ornamental use? I have tried calling numerous times with no answer, and on some occasions the phone is picked up and promptly put down again. This is unacceptable as it is very far from where I stay and I need information to ensure all documentation that will be needed is ready. How do the public call these offices?
Efficient and friendly staff, from the Telephone calls, to the clerks and other staff throughout the process.
My experience dismally dropped when my Driver's test was conducted with Mary/Maria as the examiner. From yelling at me, to instructing me under her breath, making it extremely hard to hear what she wanted me to do, to being super rude when I ask for clarity. She did not appear to be sure of what test she wanted me to do and when. Did not pay attention to me when I conducted the road-worthiness test. Cannot comment enough over the hatred and disregard she had in her manner - not to mention a test that had haphazardly started way before the time I had on my receipt.
A friend of mine was in tears after the test has been completed a Few weeks ago. Fortunately she passed, while I will gladly apply for the test elsewhere.
Pretty good service. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised. Just make sure you join the right queue and you'll get helped within a reasonable time.
I tried calling the number before going but nobody answered, got there just after 3pm and the gates were closed. The guy said they close at 3pm on weekdays, but they are also open every 2nd Saturday until noon so we went at 10am this morning. Absolutely no information posted on walls or anything, but if you just ask the people in the queue what's going on you'll soon figure it out. Waiting time was just under an hour. Staff were friendly and polite. Quick booking period for learners test, appointment made for 3 days later.
