Nice traditional Karoo food with interesting decor and acceptable service. The meat is truly enjoyable, but some sides are an acquire taste. Expect to wait a while for food.

Promising menu. Big disappointment. Ordered pineapple juice that tasted like vinegar. The amaretto cherry desert was a big disappointment. Cherries from a can under ordinary cheap icecream in a glass. Definitely not marinated in Amaretto. The waitress was very polite and thoughtful though. Bringing an extra takeaway cup for my child's cold drink.

Amazing Food, but a pity the management is so poor of service! phoned 4 days in a row to try and make a reservation, when someone finally answered the phone they couldn't understand a word!! I had to repeat myself several times!! Asking to speak to manager was even more frustrating as he himself couldn't communicate properly!!

Terrible experience. what used to be one of our best restaurants has since become one of the worst. We wonder if new managment has taken over because having to wait for a while to order drinks was rather unusual. When they did eventually take the order, my wife had to wait yet another 15 minutes for her drink. Waiting it out with her meant my drink got warm in the process. When we wanted to change it since they obviously had to manufacture it, the waitress insisted on waiting yet another five minutes. It eventually came ten minutes later. Under normal circumstances, this is when the waitress is supposed to take our orders. Nope. Despite indicating that we were ready to make orders for our meals, she said she was coming back but disappeared. Twenty minutes later she decides to take our order. Overall it took an hour for us to decide understand that we were not going to be able to have a meal and what we had planned for the rest of the evening. Yes, an hour later since we stepped in, we still had no food at our tables. The waitress paid very little attention to is even when we wanted to catch her attention to let know of what we have decided. We decided to leave the restaurant after loosing appetite and running late for our next stop for what had to be a great evening which was now obviously ruined. We tried to wave the waitress down, both me and my wife to no avail. We could tell she was ignoring us. After all, she was only interested to the other tables she was looking after. What made no sense was that the place was no where near full. I counted three tables that were occupied other than ours. No manager paid attention untill we stood up and went to the tills. To my surprise suddenly they got interested. The waitress was still paying little attention we had to seek help from others that were standing by to ask for our bill. When she arrives, she does what she's been doing all evening, insisting we wait it out. It would take yet another ten minutes for our bill to come, only to realise they still decided to charge for the food they failed to serve. Suggesting since we had to go else where that we take it as a take away order. Clearly they missed the point of what they sell. Other than, food, service is what we buy. That was insulting because both me and my wife cook very well. We left the house for the experience and got the opposite. there we were looking puzzled at the request to take food as take aways. Kfc, or bugger king would have been suitable for take aways if we decided cooking was hard for the evening. Eventually they changed the bill to cater only for the drinks. Needless to say that we did not enjoy the rest of the night as we had to skip dinner to our next stop. Terrible.
So here's advice to anyone who decides to plan for other things to do for a great evening should they decide to stop by karoo, give them about five hours between the time you walk in and pay for your bill to leave for your next stop. So don't come hungry either unless you plan to risk starvation.

This experience left a bitter taste and any karoo would have to be the only place open for me to walk in there again. I would have to be starving before I sat foot in any karoo. You messed up my evening

As a meat lover, Karoo is a go-to when a foreigner comes to visit and they need to experience South African steaks prepared to perfection.

The food and service was great. We had a dirty glass on the table and one of the coffees came with a dirty teaspoon. One of the napkins was badly torn and the furniture needs attention.

Best food I've enjoyed in a while. Nachos starter was so cheesy and freshly prepared. Pork belly roast was rich and tasty. A superb meal and excellently priced. Very efficient service. Recommend!

For a Sunday night to have shared this would have been difficult to resolve the issues as we should have known it started with the meet and greet at the door. Our service waitress was good but did get a few things wrong but not serious. She was basically the only waitress we saw that was working as the others were standing behind the smoked glass corridor. As far as the food quality is concerned it was shocking, the snails served with stale garlic sauce and phyllo pastry , meat was tough and the Biltong and cheese Sauce was cold and not freshly made. The standout was the freshness of the salad bar. The manger with the pony tail we saw once walking up and down with no guest interaction at all. The cooked chips as well were burnt and raw. . Upon paying the R800 bill the male waiter took over and appeared intoxicated and this was verified when another waiter said to him be careful this man can see you are under the influence in their language. My husband understands the language. We ignored this as we just wanted to leave. What a sad way to spend a Sunday night.. Very upsetting . Thank you Mrs Fairbanks
