Absolutely fantastic service and great seafood! My wife and I enjoyed the best spring rolls with hake bites, toped that with extremely well made sole and 15 of the tastiest prawn! Sauces for the food complimented the food extremely well! This place is a casual place and very Family friendly! JDS you will see me and my wife very soon! Thanx for a good experience!

The food looks very good and so beautifully prepared, but the main course really wasn't good at all. The sauce in which it was cooked is not good at all and spoils everything. Ocean Basket is way better when it comes to seafood.

Was a good family lunch. 4 adults and 2 kids under 6.
Service was at reasonable speed.
Food was awesome.
The kids menu is great too.
The only possible down side is the kids area is up some stairs. Cannot be changed though so understand. The area though is great and the kiss enjoyed it

I went there specifically for sushi, was quite expensive, and service was slow. When it finally arrived some of the avocado in the rainbow rolls was black and tasted spoilt :(, and my small portion of salmon sashimi had a bone in it.

Was there last night, food not up to standard, cheesy roll, definitely no no, mussel pot thick and lacked taste, no more hake special, now bass fish, just not good. Food was just not appetizing. Staff and management friendly. But this was definitely my last visit.

John Dory Gateway is one of my favourite restaurant.. I have been eating at gateway JD regularly, at least 2 times a month since 2, 3 years ago.
I have noticed since end of 2016, it just wasnt the same anymore. That is why I have not been there until last month, April - May.
"Customer service" is perfect as always BUT!, the food, the taste has just changed.
Its not as good/tasty as it used to be.
3 times that I have been there, all that 3 times the food are just not fresh, the chips are stale. It tasted like they just came back out of the microwave before it was served.
Today I went to Sun Coast JD, and the food is fresh and tasty and the chips are fresh!
I advise you guys to take a look at this and fix it please because I am your loyal customer and I love the food and the Brand and I just want to see Gateway JD to do well so that I can go back every week like I used to and enjoy the food.response / report this review -

Love JD's, just one thing I wish you guys did. Make the rainbow trout options cheaper. Because it's more expensive people tend to not order it. Because it is sustainably sourced it should be advertised better and made as a cheaper option. We are about saving the environment aren't we?

We celebrated a 70th birthday on the 5th September there. There was no complaints about the food, but sadly the training of the waitress was poor. She kept on leaning over people to put food in front of others. She was not taught that you serve from the left and collect from the right. I wrapped her over the knuckles and told her, that although she was friendly, her training was not up to much. She then pushed her way past the one person, not going around him, forced him to push is body forward for her to get past. She saw there was limited space between tables, so she could have either moved the table behind him or gone around the empty table. Sadly John Dorey, your training lacks. We are from New Zealand and were shocked to see how this waitress served us. Teach your staff correctly, as I think it is managements fault. In Kimberley we had a very different approach, the waiter served us correctly, and there was plenty of space to move around.

Wednesday is half price sushi. Really delicious too. Cool vibe and great food option if you are at Gateway and also easy to get to if you are not wanting to go into the mall. Outside area is lovely to sit at. Friendly staff.
