For my money, the best on-water restaurant in Capetown. Belgian style food and beer that is inexpensive and delicious.
4 plates ordered 1 very good rest average at high price. Will not go there again
Awful service . My wife and I came for dinner and ended up staying for a drink and going to ferrymans. View is lovely but the service is very bad . It’s the only place our service was bad in capetown
Has an amazing view. Pub and restaurant fusion. More of a tourist hype. Service and food absolutely terrible.
If you are in the mood for a good cup of coffee with a great view: go here!
If you knowing anything about proper Belgian cuisine: avoid this place. I had Mussels a la crème which were doable. Then I ordered pommes frites knowing that Belgian chips are thick; soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Well, they just serve McDonald's style fries here. And they were cold. Shame. They did come with a decent mayo though. That saved it a bit for me. For dessert I saw Belgian Waffles on the menu, and I started salivating. Well, my friends, I actually send it back! It resembled a waffle, but it was hard like a piece of toast. The second attempt wasn't much better, but I ate it because a bad waffle was still better than no waffle. But I absolutely will never order it again. They don't even make them fresh, they come from the freezer!
So to recap, a beautiful place, very friendly service, but if you've ever been to Belgium do not expect to relive that experience here.
Excellent selection of courses.
Steaks are perfectly made.
Friendly staff.
Amazing views.
Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Decent prices. Just loved the place.
Nice restaurant. Good satisfying food. Variety of Belgian beers. Service was just ok.
I rarely ever give 5 stars, but this Den Anker was the exact place I was looking to eat at. The food was incredible and the views of Table Mountain even more so.
Food took a little while, but the place was really full.
Went there for Belgium beer 🍻 tasting, but the service was not as expected. Nothing was explained to us, we were just served with a tray of Beers and a card with the details of the beer. Not what I expected.
The welcoming staff were friendly though and it has a beautiful view.
If you love good food accompanied with amazing beer or wine and desire a great view this is the spot for you in the VnA. Always a favorite when craving mussels
Top quality. Delicious food and a desire to make food perfectly to your satisfaction even of it means redoing a calamari because we had not realised it would have some chilli in it, (they offered when we checked).
Great beer! Great service and just awesome place. Beer is good gents and ladies
A lovely restaurant so cosy with spectacular views. The food was delicious and service was excellent.
We went for a light bite in the evening, ordered cheese croquettes, tempura prawns, Belgian waffles and had an enjoyable beer tasting experience. The vanilla ice cream served with the waffles was arguably the best I've ever had. Some dishes might be slightly overpriced, but overall a worthwhile experience. Highly recommended!
Food was bland and lacked flavour for all three dishes ordered at our table, not worth the price! We can make much more flavoursome homemade food. Service and venue was good and staff are friendly.
So many specialty beers and nomnom snack foods! Great place to start or end an evening out. Booking recommended.
Belgium in South Africa. Worth a visit! Best food in town. Must go! RudyRoan.be likes this place. What a view
Haven't tried the food here so can't comment on that. However, they have a really great selection of Belgium beer and the pricing isn't too bad considering either location in the waterfront and the view they have.
I just wish they had more Belgium beers on tap.
Nice atmosphere with a great selection of both (Belgian) beers and wines. Very friendly, adequate and quick service. The dishes were tasty, but the rabbit stew was way too salty. We mentioned it, it was communicated to the cook, got apologies and an alternative meal was offered. We decided that was not necessary, but were pleasantly surprised that the rabbit stew didn't appear on the bill afterwards. Would definitely give it another try
