A quaint and intimate place that offers a very nice platter-de sommer jonge. Definitely a place worth a visit. Be warned though - you will find smokers inside the premises. The owner, a pleasant chap, said that he allows smoking inside because it feeds the bill. So if you are happy with the lingering smell of smoke while munching on reasonable quality food, this is the place for you. For the non smokers, there are definitely better alternatives.

Especially nice and cozy, small but very nice vibe, and very very pretty. Almost integrated into old housing with a great old tree on the street separating one table from the rest which I was fortunate enough to sit at.
Good variety of beer on tap, with their own house lager too! Best of all No castle light available!! Also with a few nice bottled crafts available.
Definitely a favourite

Fantastic roosterkoek! Freshly baked on the premises (You can see the red oven outside). My favorite haunt in Stellenbosch. Try the Stellenbrau rooibos infused craft beer with one of their roosterkoek's - heaven! Their Roosterkoek's are named after historical Cape characters. A must when in Stellenbosch.
k's are named after historical figures such as Eva (Kritoa) , Saartjie (Baartman) And Simon (Van set Stel).

Classic stellenbosch restaurant, sitting cozy under a huge oak tree . This is where you will feel a mix of the local, student, tourist and cape dutch vibe with the best roosterkoek and beer in town.
Perfect to wait out traffic after work, or a Friday night dinner (Make a reservation for dinner time).
Also discovered they happen to have the best brownies around.

Not the place for the fussy eater. While the service is fast and the food of a good standard, the menu isn't very specific as to the ingredients therein. For example I ordered the Mariam Makeba which is described as smoked chicken covered in a creamy mayonaise, served open with gourmet salad on one half. The chicken mayo however had pieces of raw diced onions mixed in. Had I known this I would have ordered something else or asked for no onions. In addition smoking is allowed at the outside seating which is unpleasant when trying to eat.

This is a really great tiny restaurant to come chill and have a beer or many glasses of wine with friends. It feels super cozy and you'll forget about everything else for a while. The "roosterkoek" is amazing, you can't go wrong really.

I really love this tiny bar. The food, the people, the atmosphere - it's all great. You can go sit here with a group of friends, or even by yourself, and end up meeting new people and being the last to leave. The food is delicious and the bar prices are good. Definitely worth a visit.

Hidden away gem. Great local beers on tap. Uncompromising food quality with a wide variety of breads, platters and salads. Nice for afternoon lunch. Good for intimate dinner.
