Hot food section extremely exposed to all customers standing to buy hot food or take aways. Approached the store manager and showed him the disgusting conditions with construction workers talking over the food and their spittle falling on the food. Also showed him how filthy the glass cabinets are. He said they would rectify it. Been there on several occasions after talking to manager, but no improvement. Some staff at hot food section also very rude. Saw a woman leaning on the glass counter and her dirty old leather handbag was actually touching the food. Suggested to the management to get enclosed glass cabinets for the ready to eat foods, but it fell on deaf ears. Will never return, and as I'm in the tourist industry will avoid taking groups there again. Sies!

It's my favourite supermarket. Not so large, but well stocked. Lots of shoppers, but the queue to the tills moves quite fast. Closes at 10.00 pm - another great bonus.

Good, reliable supermarket store in the upper city open later than most! They close at 10pm on Fridays & Saturdays! Stocking almost everything you need to run your house. Friendly staff. A bit cramped but not the end of the world.

There is something amiss at this store. I have been shopping here for a number of years and the store does not compare to other Checkers stores.
The staff are friendly and helpful, but perhaps on holiday. I have on a few occasions approached the management and although they are kind, i have felt like i was speaking to someone from another universe. So these days i often make the further trek to PnP at Gardens centre. Very sad really, because I would be very happy to be a loyal regular. Unfortunately now i am simply a regular. It is possible that i am the one from another universe. One where i take pride in how things are done.

I had a good experience sjopping at checkers in kloof street. The cashier (Avril) is her name was very friendly and that was important to my shopping experience because it was my first time there. I also received many heyday specials. Going back tomorrow because my friend also want some items.
Thank you checkers for helping me to save because i am the breadwinner of my home. ☺😙

Clean friendly the biggest cheese selection I have seen at any checkers to date. Isles are a bit narrow not wheelchair friendly. Moms with strollers will also struggle. Day times finding parking is a nightmare.

Very good looking store. Lively atmosphere. The bakery and deli section is filled with a variety of gorgeous baked goods and quick lunches. The service is excellent and fast as well. This store has everything a shopper needs to fulfill their shopping list.

Quick & clean. A nice variety of stock with a very friendly and helpful manager. The cashier staff are well trained and this is a quick and painless experience - what a relief. A decent variety in stock.

It's got almost everything you could possibly need. Always open til at least 9pm which is really useful. Friendly staff, the queues are never awful and they generally have good stock.

I've lived in various suburbs around Cape Town, and this Checkers store has consistantly proved itself to be the worst of them all! Over a period of one year they've ALWAYS out of stock on about 40% of the items on my shopping list (items I almost always find at the Sea Point branch). On most occations when the shelves are half empty, the excuse is always the same: "the delivery truck has not arrived yet" I've raised my concerns with the manager, who were very open to listening to my comments, but nothing has changed. Today I made a pack with myself to never again shop here, and save myself the frustration.

Wow, recent makeover make this a super supermarket. Convenient location. Not a lot of parking. Inside great selection. Nice to have something so central.
