I spent 10 days at Cape Town Backpackers and there’s no end to the great things I have to say about that hostel. As a solo traveler I tried finding the most social hostel and this was exactly what I was looking for. Long story short, highly recommend that you stay here.

The staff is incredible: Zubair checked me in and when I mentioned I had no plans yet, he immediately linked me up with some other travelers who invited me along on their adventures, and he took us partying a few times, showing us the ropes of Long Street. Leo was very helpful when I was planning different trips and always had great recommendations. I ended up doing a 6 Day Cape to Addo tour based on her input and it was unbelievably fun. Darren and Doniel were always chill faces to see in the common area or behind the bar.

The hostel’s location is perfect. Right next to Kloof Street and 5 minutes from Long and Bree Streets. There are tons of great restaurants very close by. And I loved walking back to the hostel from anywhere, with a perfect view of Table Mountain and Lion’s Head. Speaking of, both are very quick and cheap Uber rides from the hostel.

The accommodations were great. I stayed in a 6-bed dorm then a 4-bed dorm. The 4-bed had a bathroom in the room so that was great. I had to switch rooms because I booked a last minute tour and had to shift my hostel dates around. Zubair was fantastic with that and he rearranged my booking as I rushed out the door (he also woke me up when I overslept my tour time that morning. You’re a lifesaver, bru!)

I can’t stop gushing about Cape Town Backpackers. It’s a fantastic place where I made loads and loads of friends who I will be seeing again around the world. And I’ll definitely be returning to this hostel in the not too distant future.

I really enjoyed my stay there, mainly for the nice lounge area, quite sleeping. And since this hostel is not in the party area there is a more serious and relaxed crowd which I really enjoyed.

Don't stay here. Literally the worst backpackers, who are so strict about guests and will make most nights hell.

Very friendly staff, and very convenient location. Close to Long Street, in walking distance. Rooms are decent. But some bunk beds do not have the safety bar on the top bed, while others do. They also give you a free yoghurt parfait in the morning, and you can order more food for a cheap price. Bathroom facilities are extremely clean

Very friendly, rooms are near to the street so that you can walk to your car easily but you hear the street noise as well. No problem with parking your car in front of it. If you ask the reception you get a good advise for some restaurants or activities. Enjoy it!

Amazing hostel, staff goes the extra mile for you even at 3am. The dorms are affordable and cozy. Maybe a little hot, but ventilators are provided. Dorms have their own bathroom or one arround the corner!

It was my first time travelling alone and the people at CT backpackers were very friendly and helpful. Next to this the people coming into the hostel often were traveling alone or socially adept mqking it easy to get to know new people. There were only two minor things which made it not five but four stars (wifi not working for a few days and tour being cancelled of which we werent informed in time) but I still truly recommend this hostel for anyone travelling alone. Price is very good and the atmosphere as well.
