A truly different place, great location on a safe street surrounded by bars and restaurants! They offer great activities for the solo traveller or groups. Friendly and helpful staff! A definite stay over when visiting Johannesburg!

The vibe, the staff, the convenience.
Also an ATM on site.
Don't let the catchy name sway you, this place can back up it's 4 Star Accomodation with a diverse group of people always contributing to its vibrant atmosphere.

It's a home away from home. Bheki and his stAff are simply the best. I always go to unwind and have a drink at the bar and sometimes see the breathtaking rooftop

It's a great backpacker! Rooms are comfy and the bar is amazing. I had also a city tour with Jazz and it was amazing too. Unfortunately Joburg is not that safe and so it's almost impossible to walk in the city freely.

I was here on 21/10/2017.
In the night about 2.30am, a girl was outside of my room screeching, and keep saying help me, and is there anybody here ? I heard someone behind her, she was crying and saying someone wanted to rap her.
I was not able to understand why it happened in the hostel.
I won't recommend this hostel to anyone.
The restroom was outside of my room, after that I had to wait until moring to use toilet.response / report this review -

Very different. Not your regular hostel. Innovative in design and the decor is amazing. Location is as Johannesburg as you can get.

An amazing hostel in a safe part of the city. The staff and follow travelers were very friendly. Good vibes all around! They have a live music and poetry jam session Sunday nights led by Children of the Wind that include locals and you can join in too or just sit back and enjoy it.

Had heaps of fun staying at Curiocity! I was travelling alone and the different activities they have every night along with a comfy bar, made meeting people really easy and fun!! Staff were also super friendly and helpful

Very pleasant atmosphere, located in a pretty safe area as far as I've noticed. Staff is very friendly and very helpful. Jacuzzi was fun, as was the pool table. Everything is clean as well, with a pretty well equipped kitchen.
Only thing that might've been nice would be a free or cheap shuttle service, as other places offer, though I get that's quite hard to run with such a large place and therefore didn't mind that much. Jo'burg is pretty well connected anywayresponse / report this review -

Not just a fun place, but fun people too! Very welcoming staff who will help you both inside and outside of the backpackers. They organize events such as soccer games to go to and other shenanigans to get into. Also, there's a rooftop next door with frequent parties on top. Not only will it peak your curiosity, but it will fulfill it as well.

Comfortable, clean rooms. Bar inside, well equipped kitchen for you to cook, and a balcony for staying outside. You can also book some van trips to touristic places around.

The backpackers is great if you want to experience maboneng on a budget. The staff is great and really helpful. They know the area well and will go out of their way to assist you. You must join them on some of their tours
