We had a decent stay at this lodge but it was absolutely not a four star hotel as claimed. Had we paid half the price I might have been more satisfied. The staff was friendly, though Charmaine needed two of herself to hold down the front of the house successfully. The space clean, though you can see it's becoming a bit shabby over the years in the bush, again fine, as long as you aren't expecting a four star experience. The food (part of the lodging price) was by far the worst meals we ate in our three weeks in South Africa. They were overcooked and simple, fine, if you aren't claiming to be a four star hotel. It rained during our two night stay so the game drives were cancelled. It was cool and wet, perfect for the hot tubs but we were told it was the off season for those. The highlight of the two days was the elephant ride for sure. However if you think you'll be getting any special consideration if you stay at the lodge, you will not. They offer the elephant rides as a day trip, so when we showed up at the day lodge we were paired with 13 other people who drove in for the day and we waited while each group of 4-5 people went out for a short ride and then fed them together. In short, if you really want to ride elephants, then just drive to Addo Elephant Back Safari (which remember is NOT in Addo) for a day excursion and skip the stay at the lodge there are many other more affordable or actual four star lodges in the area.
Awesome experience
Absolutely shocked to find out that a national park named after one of Africa's most majestic animals does elephant-back safaris. This is such a cruel practice and I am ashamed that I ever supported this place.
Amazing place and experience.
Lovely and helpful staff. Fantastic food and lodges.
We were there for the Elephant experience.

The guides put in a lot of effort to make the trip worthwhile.
