Best place in ObservatoryI realized that they are rated number 1 in Backpacking. They deserve it and I strongly recommend it.

I haven't lived here, but I visit friends who does. The buzz is very lay back. Drinks are affordable, and the staff makes you feel right at home, even if you just came to have some drinks and say hi to some friends. I'm not sure what their pricing is, and not sure how many different options are available in terms of rooms, but I know they he dorms/share rooms available

Loved my first visit, not so much my second.
There was a ton of theft during my stay, but mgmt didn't notify other guests/new ones.
The location's good. Near the train & Main Rd.
Staff were 50/50. Some were 100% dedicated, some had no enthusiasm for constantly serving and delighting guests.
The atmosphere wasn't for me. Too much of an obnoxious frat party vibe, not enough of a considerate, curious one.
Hostel was always pretty clean.
WiFi was spotty, doorbell never worked, lounge was freezing, & staff/guests shouted 24/7.

Great vibe and complimentary breakfast is served every morning fresh and hot. Loved the chocolate muffins and the Art and Craft area.

Great place to stay. Very vibrant environment. They have something fun going on literally everyday! You'll never have a dull moment at 33 South Backpackers.

Chill backpackers with a great atmosphere! Have fun events every week like Braai on Fridays and a cheap happy hour every day from 7-8pm.
