My wife and I used to love Zingerman's and would go every chance we got. She discovered it in college and introduced it to me years ago, so I was familiar with it when they were just a great deli with a charming atmosphere and outstanding food. Now they are so full of themselves I can barely stand going into the building - you actually have to walk past books they wrote (and are for sale, of course) on how to manage a company on the way to order your food. The atmosphere after the renovation is very cafeteria like and cold, and the prices are crazy expensive; its always been expensive, or course, but now it's completely over the top. We still stop in once every couple of years when we forget what's its become, but usually leave frustrated and angry and swearing never to go back. I give it a 2 star because the food is still good, but I consider Zingerman's to be a perfect case study in how hubris can ruin a business.

Amazing food, super friendly and help staff. They genuinely mean that they want you to shop with your tastebuds. They seem willing to let you taste anything in the store. The meat and cheese selection is unbelievable for a store of this size. Don't get intimidated by all of the cheese! Tell them what you like and let them give you a couple of things to try. You can't go wrong!

We were visiting Ann Arbor for 4 days and we tried Zingerman for lunch on day 1. And then we couldn't stop, we were back again for the next 3 consecutive days for lunch. The food and service are both excellent. Even when a little crowd builds, the line moves pretty quickly. The variety of the food here is also great. This is a must visit place in Ann Arbor. I wish there was a option to give 5+ Stars.

This place was awesome! Went at the recommendation of a friend who is local and we really enjoyed it. Food was great, everyone was pleasant. We got there at just before noon on Saturday and must have been lucky because there was no line. When we left, the line wrapped around the entire inside of the building. Sandwich selection is huge and broken down by type of meat, such as turkey, chicken, etc.

This is great for gluten free folks as well. They have gluten free bread, and take the allergy seriously by preparing separate workstation, separate gloves, etc. If you are gluten free and love sandwiches, you're in luck!

The sides didn't seem nearly as great as the sandwiches, but they are freebies anyway. Recommended checking out the goods in the store, they seem high quality, like the sandwich.

A must if you’re visiting Ann Arbor or anywhere close in Michigan. Hands down some of the best sandwiches, cheeses, and desserts you’ve ever had. Well worth the price. Great for takeout or a casual lunch spot. I highly recommend their gift baskets as a nice gift for any occasion.

Have been a loyal customer for 20+ years - alas it seems like all good things come to an end - or at least get worse. Food great - customer service getting dicey. Still pleasant staff seem overwhelmed. Usually order ahead - now told it takes 4 hours to create a sandwich order. But feel free to come in! The line is only 30 minutes. Came in. 45 minutes in line later the line has not moved. Not even that many people in the restaurant. Food coming from the kitchen at a glacial pace. Used to see Ari in here all the time - now not so much

I had not been there in years. Thought I would treat myself. Ordered a BBQ chicken sandwich. It was terrible. Huge chunk of chicken on a bun with a drizzle of sauce. Cole slaw was awful, with lots of mustard.$10.59. Never again

This place is my favorite restaurant in AA. I love everything. My favorites are their corned beef & chicken salad sandwiches. They always have samples of their deli food and bakery items. Also, they have amazing root beer floats, ice cream, and coffee. They have a seating area outside that is pet-friendly. There are even water bowls for your dog on those hotter days.

This is an awesome Deli in an awesome location. The staff centers around a positive customer service. They even train and discuss strategies to help customers new to the store or timid in their experiences with the overwhelming number of yummy choices. They do not crowd you but they do not let you stand too long in your wonderment either. I was so enchanted with the customer services I went overboard on my "add this" and "add that" without noticing their higher than average prices. But don't let that daunt you from experiencing this truly first rate deli.

Prices are high.

And don't forget to shop down the street at the treasure mart.

Also, plan a day the farmers market is open for the total experience (or during a football game day.

We're visiting from out West. There are no delis near us so it was a treat just to go to a deli. But Zingerman's was just amazing. First the provided free samples of unusual cheeses and then a sample of 35 year old balsamic vinegar. Finally we ordered dinner. The good was amazing and plentiful. Dessert was cupcakes and blintzes. We were so full but just had to finish the desserts. A definite place to return to on our next visit.

Before we ate here I heard from countless people about how great this place was supposed to be. I will say the selection was quite amazing. They have about any sandwich that you can dream of. The atmosphere was good but not great for a sandwich place. I think that could be said about the whole experience including the food. The sandwiches that we ate were huge but they were a little expensive. I would rate this place about 3 1/2 stars. I would go again but not make a special trip for it.

I love this place. I just do. It's expensive, to the point where you honestly can't really justify it, but you don't care. The thing I appreciate most is that they are an amazing sandwich place that has amazing vegetarian sandwiches. There aren't many sandwich shops that understand an amazing sandwich can be made without meat.

Their breads, though, are actually very reasonably priced at the store. You don't need some special occasion for them and they really aren't very expensive.

Everything about Zingerman's is wonderful! The selection is vast, food DELICIOUS, the staff is very friendly, helpful and patient and the portions are fair. I've enjoyed a few sandwiches here, Gelato, tea and shopped for take home items. I have never been disappointed. Zingerman's is an absolute MUST visit place every time I'm in Ann Arbor.

Absolutely amazing. Sure, it is pricey, but a nice treat. The sandwiches are amazing (the combo of quality and plentiful meat with perfect Zingerman's bread) and we loved the Puck's soda. We had to try a little of each flavor--seriously some of the best soda we've ever had! Can't wait for our next Deli outing!

Having heard a ton about Zingerman's, we were excited to finally get to go there. The line was out the door, understandably since it's famous. The staff was awesome! They're so friendly and up beat. Knowing their guests have to wait in line forever, people came around several times to give samples. Their food was pretty good. Hard to live up to the hype, and not as fantastic as I expected but still really great. There was so much going on in the place, I kind of wished I hadn't had to wait in line so I would have time to look around. I'll have to go back during the week and see if it's a little slower.
