Being new to the area I was eager to try this restaurant because it came recommended. Needless to say, it was very disappointing. I went on a Sunday night around 7:30pm. I sat for six minutes before my server came to the table to ask what I wanted to drink. I ordered tea and he brought me water. I had to ask again for my tea. I ordered the beef tips which were absolutely delicious however cold. Another server brought them to my table and did not bring a plate for me to eat them on. My server stated that a few people had complained that their tips were cold too. He took them back and had them heated. I had to ask again for a plate, which he brought. I had to get someone else to go get my server because he never came back to check on me. She ended up helping me to get my food in a to go container as well as my drink. The server came back only to bring my check. I have to say I was dismally disappointed.

Hard to rate this one. Session IPA was great. Food was good. Location, view, and vibe outstanding. So close to 5 stars. But they seemed under staffed, it took over five minutes at the first floor for someone to tell us to order at the bar upstairs, then that floor was unmanned for another 5-10 minutes. It was really frustrating to try to stop in for a drink before catching a train and having about 1/3 of my time spent standing around waiting.

Great place! Our burger & BLT were delicious and my flight of Whetstone beers from a Session IPA through Imperial Stout were consistently good. The place itself offers great river views and plenty of indoor & outdoor seating. The staff was friendly and attentive and the prices were fair. We will certainly return when driving near Southern Vermont.

Exceptional service and fantastic food. Tried Tim's Awesome burger on waiter's (ask for Steven) suggestion and a bowl of cheddar ale soup. Everything was superb and bested only by the view and atmosphere of dining outside looking over the river.
Highly recommend this great dining experience.

Great spot. The location and view alone are outstanding and make it worth a visit. Tap list is very solid - bottles are good too. Beer menu comes on a tablet. Food is good and a little pricey, but considering the location and view plus local food and Vermont and it's standard. Parking can be tricky, as parking lot is tiny and lot across the street is also small. Pro tip - you can park in a large dirt lot on the other side of the bridge (in New Hampshire) and walk across the bridge to the restaurant. Great view up and down the Connecticut River makes the walk worth it and part of the experience.

I've been eating here for awhile. I love the food and atmosphere usually. Today we waited outside in line to get preferred seating. When we were seated we were promised an outdoor seat in the shade by our hostess. As we were being seated two people ran through the door to the outside and PUSHED past us. Instead of the hostess speaking up and sharing that the seat had already been promised; she allowed this behavior to occur and offered us to go inside or take the outside corner seat. I am appalled that she allowed that behavior to occur!! What is this: Black Friday?? Seriously!

Nice atmosphere. Good brew. Not happy there are only 3 tables that can fit 6 and we've been waiting 2 hours. Interior design prioritized a bunch of decorative barrels over table space.

The beer selection is excellent and they may have been awarded as the best burger in town but only if you like it overcooked. Ordered a RARE burger and it came out between medium rare to medium. My significant other ordered medium rare and it came out medium to medium well. I guess the cooks could use some more training. It's not that hard to cook a rare hamburger but it sure is hard to find and you surely won't get one here! If you come here for food there are plenty of better options. But the 🍺is excellent!

The Connecticut River is truly a beautiful spot for a restaurant. And the Whetstone is one of them my favorite places ever to go whenever I visit Brattleboro.

I'm really disappointed that the town has put in parking meters across the way because that limit how much time you can relax on the river if you put in coins.

Service was mediocre-at-best when I was there. I was never offered or asked if I want another drink? I was not asked if I wanted to have dessert which is my favorite in the world. The service was slow.

The food, especially the sweet potato fries are excellent.

So how you could improve is by a number of things. When you're sitting on the deck you can hear two types of music. It was confounding me. I couldn't figure out where the other music coming from.

First of all you don't need to music sources. But one is upstairs on the deck and the other is from the loudspeaker on the bottom deck. Very annoying. Turn one off.

People can actually talk like they used to if you do that.

Second you used to have really nice uniforms. Now it's really shabby and I don't like it honestly not for the prices that you're paying.

There was no conversation from the server other than what I told her. I realize it's hard to get good staff but you know when you're single person coming in for dinner or lunch, you're not necessarily just coming in to have food. It's the total experience that would be more memorable have you had some interaction with a server.

The tablets don't work outside - you can't see the menu unless you put it underneath the table and that's kind of awkward because it's too bright outside and the lighting on the tablet is almost impossible to read.

I had a really hard time closing the box of the to-go box . I'm not really sure why it wouldn't close but it's just did not close. So maybe you want to check that out it looks good it's biodegradable but it's not functional.

You're in a good spot, you got lots of foot traffic, and you are a good attraction to the Brattleboro area. Improve on these things and I think you'll soar!

Very good beer, but not the best service. Bartender was very nice, but the wait staff kind of threw my food down in front of me with no utensils or napkin (had to go find it myself). I was upstairs. Loved the propane heaters thoughvery cool. Food was good overall.

Good atmosphere but our food took forever to get out. Out waiter only checked on us once during an over 30 minute wait for our food. My water glass is dry, and I'm hungry. Ordered an appetizerI doubt we will see it. Won't come back.

Excellent brewery and restaurant! Large number of good beer selections, and the food is awesome! I recommend the steak tips. Phenomenal place to sit outside next to the river. Views are breathtaking!

Love this place. Good steak tips. Great atmosphere. Not much of a beer drinker here, but their cocktails are great. The only place in town to sit next to the river and enjoy a meal. Others in town simply fall short of expectations.
