Absolutely perfect place to go for a relaxing healthy meal with friends. The music is great and soft enough so a conversation can be had. Staff are exceptional and friendly.
Kitchen is clean.

Frangipane and Bialys are fantastic. We we're staying in downtown Asheville and so glad we found this place on Google. The wait was about 10 minutes and the service is excellent. There is plenty of seating and a fair amount of parking around. Coffee is excellent as well.

Staff is very friendly. The place has lots of available seating inside and out. Tried their veggie burger of the day and it was amazing. I've never liked the bread on a burger so much before. It's definitely all fresh and home made. Also had their hummus and chips + snickerdoodle cookie, and americano.

I started going there 8 years ago Friday mornings. I usually got their cinnamon bun, which had quite a reputation.
A few years later there was apparently a change of ownership, and the owner must have taken a few secrets with him, as the cinnamon rolls have never been the same.
Most if the time they are badly overpriced, with a fluffy dry constancy totally different from the original. A baker at another shop said it is usually the result of lack of attention , but in any case, just not close to the original.
If you go to their website, you will see a picture of it - but it is the way it looked, not the puffy over-proofed ones they had today.
I check every few weeks, and sometimes not real bad, but still a long way from the origional.response / report this review -

Local bakery and coffee shop that serves breakfast and lunch. Lots of baked goods including fresh bread and giant cinnamon rolls. No table service. Some outdoor seating.

Loved everything. Food was great. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had the great-big-old-giant-cinamon roll. Tasty. I also had a egg and cheese biscuit (amazing). Enough food that we couldn't finish it all!

They make ok bread Stay away if you don't use a microwave at home, why would you pay for that out? I didn't feel comfortable eating any "cooked" "food" so I tried a prepared cold salad which was ok but I've seen and tasted much better cold cases. Seems like City Bakery with less options. The local produce that makes Asheville special was no where to be found.
I much prefer and highly recommend OWL Bakery a little further down Haywood if you want real food, and a better mood.
Why three stars if I don't like this place? It's not the worst place I've been, the location is convenient for a coffee, but you won't see me here.response / report this review -

Made a special trip to try a cinnamon roll. It was warm, but almost under cooked and too sweet. Only could taste the sugar and nothing else. Not a well balanced pastry. Very popular and hard to find parking.
