While these are no longer a Wehrenburg they are still stellar theatres. The seats are soft with power reclining and many of the people who visit bring a blanket just in case they want to cozy up. The armrest in the middle can move too, meaning if you're taking the kids they can have a divider while you and your date don't.
Lastly everything is well thought out, from pricing to seat selection. The audiences I've attended with have been nothing short of great and I attribute it to a great theatre.
This has been my favorite movie theater for the past 5 years. But I will focus on the recent changes they've made Such as the awesome new reclining seats. It's always a pleasant experience here. Food prices are high, but that's typical movie theater biz. Ticket prices are cheap (especially for students) and the popcorn/drinks are always good. A bit disappointed that they removed most of the flavoring shakers though. But don't let that take away from how great the projectors and sound quality of the movies here are. Almost never any technical difficulties. If you're ever wanting to see a movie in town, go here.
I always have a great experience here with comfortable seats and quality sound. But like some other reviewers complained, the metal railing in front of the last row of seating obstructs your view of the screen. This is observed more in some screens than the other. This railing is an issue no matter the position of your reclining seats. It does obstruct the view no matter what. How is this okay? I am assuming these railings are necessary per code. But they need to find a way to reposition the seats so it is not an issue anymore.
They have very nice seats that are comfortable, recline, and the entire area is very clean. The staff is polite and helpful every time I've interacted with them. They have a nice selection of snacks and drinks. I'm very excited to go there again!
Great stuff! Love the new chairs! Be really amazing if they figured out the online/box office seating chart. You can go online and buy amazing specific seats and yet none of the 16 year olds employed seem to care when your seats are taken. Pretty sure that's why I buy my tickets ahead of time. You wanna put the ability to buy specific seats on the site, have ushers to back it up.
Got here an hour early for a movie in order to get good seats. I don’t have a card so I have to pay cash only to find out in order to get a good seats, we have to reserve seats. It’s unfair.
Watched IT here in the imax. It was intense with base so loud I felt it in my chest. But I liked it that way. Made the movie intense
Way better since Marcus theaters took over.. $5 Tuesdays with two people large drink and free popcorn with your club card is like $14 And some change! New recliners make it possible to really relax.. also good for date nights officially me and my lady can actually cuddle up with a blanket.. it's so nice!!!
Solid rewards program, good screens, good number of shows. IMAX theater in particular is good. Deals for students, seniors, and State Farm employees. Arcade is fun if you need to kill a few minutes. This may seem silly but I wish the popcorn salt was still on stands by the fountain drinks instead of on the counter right where you pay. You hold up the line salting your popcorn. Sometimes it's popcorn salt and sometimes it's regular table salt if that bothers you. They also no longer have flavored toppings if that's important to your popcorn experience.
This is our favorite local theater but it's been hit and miss in terms of quality lately. Some screens are great - comfortable, good sound and lighting, a great experience. Other screens are in rooms that need serious cleaning (ie bad odors and damp), or the sound is not great, or the lamps in the projectors are a tad weak, or the air conditioning isn't as good as the others. They are currently in a renovating mode, so we are expecting this to all improve soon enough. New ownership has a new vision, and we're looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. It's been much better in the past, and it may well be so again.
Updated - the new loungers are quite comfortable and do make the viewing more enjoyable. I'm not sure how they will hold up long term, but the two screens we've been to with them have been very good experiences for us. I'm looking forward to the expanded food offerings to come.
Prices are high, floors aren't always clean but they do have a lot of good deals if you join the rewards program and they have the mega screen.
This was my first time back to the Bloomington IL location since the new ownership, I have to say I wasn't overly impressed.
First, I know they have no control over what Google post about their movie times, but as I stood in line I overheard 3 others have the same issues as I did the movie times posted on Google were not the movie times listed when we got there. From our phones we thought we were on Wehrenberg Theater's website as Google shows the link to be the correct website. The truth is it was still Google's times. Now what Google had posted is what time the movie actually started without the previews, the times the theatre posts in the box office are the times the previews started. I guess if you are not worried about seating, go by what time Google has listed.
The young lady in the box office was only doing her job, and I am sure she has to go over this daily multiple times but I don't need to be talked down to, and that was the tone she was getring with us. I understand you have no control over what Google posts but Fandago had the same times listed as Google.
This issue in itself was not the reason for my 3 star rating. The concession staff is not very efficient nor were they listening. I watch the lady in front of me tell them more than once butter on the kid's popcorn and they still gave it to her without. He was helpful with me though so maybe he is new, but most movie goers want to get their snacks and get to their movie and you need a well trained staff for that.
Once in the theatre my foot stuck to the floor in front of my seat. Yes I could have moved but I sat there for a reason.
I frequent another Bloomington theatre and am not disappointed there. Yes food is more expensive there, but for the most part it is better too the floors have always been clean when I have been there.
Maybe I have been "spoiled " by the other theatre but I like it and the people much better.
I know this post might sound pety, but I feel my experience today was not a good one, it was mediocre at best. Saving grace for Wehrenberg is that today was $5 movies and I got a free popcorn so I don't feel like I am out a lot but my medium drink (slushy) was 3 times what the same drink would cost me at a fast food restaurant or a C-store, that is still crazy!
Great place for movies. Very clean surroundings. Great sounds. Plus they are getting recliner seats.
i have been going to Wehrenberg theater since 2009 and can honestly say it's the best in town. screens and sound are great, IMAX you have to experience at least once, but not a fan of the real-3D; found it too distracting. top notch staff, always friendly, and i've never heard an ill word from anyone there. you won't find a better movie-going experience anywhere else.
Love the theater, it always clean, unlike another local one. I love the $5 discount days, but hate (hate) that they have discontinued the free popcorn toppings and now make you pay $1.50 for a tiny little container of seasoning. That type of price increase in concessions is my reasoning for 4 stars. On the flip side, the seats in all the theaters are very comfortable, and I love the IMAX and 3D theaters. This is our #1 theater of choice in the local area.
