The school has a lot to offer for students with disabilities and a program called TRiO with transfer scholarships to four year colleges. The financial aid staff is very helpful and caring. Carrie in enrollment I would recommend seeing if you need help with paper work or the Pell Grant. They help to work with you closely about classes and picking the right classes.
I'm in a welding class here, so far so good, have some good teachers here. Also good food.
One of ICC's biggest downfalls would have to be their financial aid staff! They are very inconsiderate. The 5 times I've been in the office I have yet to see anyone there with a welcoming, "I'm ready to assist you attitude." You can complete everything correct on your part and they will still screw you over at the end and give you attitude as if it's not their problem. Everyone there should be retrained with an emphasis on EMPATHY! The teachers are satisfactory. Not great, not well, just satisfactory.
Great school all around but what lowers it so much is they're financial aid staff. They are hands down the most uncaring idiotic and incompetent group of workers I have ever seen. They don't answer your questions helpfully they are so smug. I wasn't able to get a loan because they lost my high school transcript so my account can't get awarded. Then they tell me they have it but don't take it off my to do list. I don't know if they don't care about theur jobs or they're just stupid but if you need financial aid either go elsewhere or make sure you you let them know you will not be dealing with their incompetence.
There are some really great teachers here!
This bookstore is absolutely awful! Very over priced and will charge you full price for a book after renting for a minimal wear and tear! Never will I do business with them again! Rent or buy off of Amazon!
They have amazing Photography and Graphic Design programs that are their best kept secret, with new high-end studios and mac computers. I took ALL photo and design classes I could while I was there. I have transferred to a four year school now, but I miss ICC so much! The teachers at ICC were the nicest people, unlike at my current university I wish ICC offered Bachelor's.
Worst community college I've ever been to in my life. They hardly seem to care about students as much as other schools. No free gym. No free bus. No amenities close by. Everything is over-priced. The general atmosphere is also pretty ghetto. Not a nice college at all.
