I took my car in for a check-up because I had been experiencing several issues. There were a few things that could potentially be wrong and I was quite worried that it would cost several hundred dollars. Pete took my car for a test drive and checked quite a few different issues that ended up boiling down to me being low on one fluid, which they filled. I expected at least a 50 dollar charge for having my car for a few hours and checking a variety of things, but when I got the bill the total cost was ZERO. They checked my car and fixed the issue FREE OF CHARGE because they said it didn't merit a bill. Wasp is the only place I'll take my car from now on and I tell all my coworkers and friends that they're honest mechanics, which is not an easy thing to find. Thank you.

    Lug nut hell

When I moved to Cary from Asheville, I needed a mechanic to maintain my 2015 Subaru Forester XT. I was happy with their service, until the last visit, when I was charged roughly $500 for maintenance involving changing the spark plugs. I was quoted $350. My invoice showed over $100 for 4 Sparks. OEM is NGK Platinum. Okay, a little piffed at this point. I was told the brakes need replaced, but refused that service, as I can do it in about 15 minutes. When I got around to changing the brakes, there were 7, yes SEVEN lug nuts cross threaded by an impact wrench. 7 of 20, at least they got 13 right. I actually had to break the wheel studs to replace them, like welded stuck. I obviously had to replace all 7. The last 4 I replaced, the lugs were not proving ANY clamping force at all, just stuck. This was less than an year old car, a little early for did too stay seizing up.

Pete treated me very well, his mechanic did a good job, and it was a much better experience than going to a Honda dealership for a repair.

Amazing folks here. This is the repair shop you are looking for. Won't charge you for anything you don't need. Honest, hard working, friendly. If you've every stressed about where to take your car for repairs, don't stress any more. I've had a Miata worked on here (intake system, catalytic converter, oxygen sensor) as well as a Toyota Matrix. They've also referred me to other great folks when it's something they couldn't do (e.g. exhaust manifold replacement on a Honda Pilot) . Cannot say enough good things. If there's one bad thing it's that they are *busy*. (For a reason though right?). I almost feel like I should be selfish and not post good things and keep this great thing a secret. :)

Trustworthy, reliable mechanics for Japanese makes. Repeat customers for more than 20 years.

These guys are just the BEST. Honest work and clear explanations every time. Whenever I go anywhere else, I kick myself. They've saved me $$ many times by telling me that whatever the "oil and lube place" recommended is not necessary and running quick diagnostics on my car rather than doing unneeded work.
The waiting room is not shiny, but it does have free wifi, and it can be hard to figure where exactly in the garage you're supposed to check in, but it's worth it. Don't go anywhere else.

I had a car problem on a recent Saturday and had to have my car towed. I had no idea where to take it on weekend for service, but the towing service recommended WASP. I called the shop to let them know it was on the way and I asked if there was any way I could get it that day as I needed it for work on Monday. I was told I'd get a call back with information. About 5 hours later the shop called to let me know the car was ready!! I was amazed and thrilled! Long story short - WASP Automotive is FABULOUS! Friendly and kind people, honest work, and great service!

I've been bringing my 2003 Honda Civic EX Coupe to WASP Automotive for years; Galen Williams works on my car exclusively (he's their Honda Specialist). The shop is !@#$%^ filthy. It's an all day affair when you have a big job (plan on dropping it off the night before, and picking it up the day after). BUT, BUT, I wouldn't let anyone else touch my car! Galen's a class act, and so is WASP Automotive! By the way, I work at a local, major new car dealership where I receive very generous employee discounts for vehicle service.

Wasp Automotive might be one of my favorite discoveries in the area around which I live. They're significantly (usually about 3-4 times) cheaper than my "local" (really like 30 minutes away Toyota dealership), they're faster, and they're much more conveniently located. The staff are consistently kind and polite and I'm glad I've been taking my car to them for over a year now.

I wasn't a customer of Wasp, however I can attest to the owner's desire to help others. A package meant for me was incorrectly sent to his home twice and not only did he send it back once, but he took the time to drive over to our home and leave it for us. Throughout the whole ordeal he was incredibly nice as well. Very rarely do I meet someone who is so willing to go out of their way to help. As a result, if I ever have car troubles, I will certainly patronize this business.

Great mechanics, very honest. Few frills, although they do have a dependable shuttle service, comfy waiting room, and the bonus of feeling like an actual garage.
Treated my aging Pontiac Vibe well. Politely informed me when other shops had given me bad advice and tried to up-sell on unnecessary work, and when repairs were actually needed, they showed me, explained why the work was needed (and what would be done), then offered a wide range of repair options (allowing me to make my own decision about trade-offs like costs).

I've been taking my car to WASP for four years. My mechanic is Phil (he takes care of the Mazdas) and he has always been just amazing. He's helpful, explains things clearly, comes up with good solutions to problems, and gives me a variety of suggestions if a repair is expensive so that I can choose the route I want to go. He is everything a great mechanic should be!

We are devoted Wasp customers. The staff is super friendly and are great at explaining their customers' issues. They have earned a huge level of trust from us and we take both of our cars here for all major repairs. Waiting area is dated but that just means they put their money towards more important things!
