The campground needs new bathroom buildings desperately. The campground office needs to be replaced, as well. It's ancient and there's barely room for two customers at once. Otherwise, it's beautiful. Excusing those limitations, the park is one of the best places to visit in the South Haven area.

We came here for a weekend giveaway and we were not disappointed. The campgrounds were very clean in the process to check in was very simple. The sites are reasonably large with plenty of room for multiple vehicles if needed.

Beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline. Great Dunes. The beach is serviceable and a bit rocky compared to elsewhere, but the dunes are where it is at. Bring a book, climb a dune, and spend the day under a tree while looking out at Lake Michigan.

Great place for a weekend getaway. Clean restrooms. Friendly staff. Nice trails. Busy during summer months. A little less crowded in the fall.

Very secluded campsite. Nice bathrooms, awesome beach front. Very scenic dunes. The only thing missing is more hiking trails! If all you want to do is camp and enjoy the lake front, this is the place for you!

Campground is phenomenal!! Rangers there are always very pleasant, helpful and take time for short visits with the campers. State park beach is nice other than the rocks. One of my most favorite places in Michigan second to being up north!!!!!

I can walk my bike through rejuvenating woods and not see another person! I have seen tortoises, frogs, birds, praying mantises, walking sticks, locusts, Foxes, hawks, owls, and even the sunrays illuminating the woodland floor and the various flora and fungi that cover it! The pine needles and fallen leaves reflect the light which passes through the woodland canopy!

We didn't stay here, but were allowed to check it out for future trips. Campground has a good layout. Restrooms & showers were not updated like we saw at Holland State Park. Beach is quite a ways away but has a very large parking lot to allow you to drive over there. No showers near beach. Good restrooms there. Weather was extremely windy and exciting with red flag-no swimming the day we visited, so we could not evaluate the beach. We did not have time to investigate the trails.

Spots aren't on top of one another. You have access to Lake Michigan, South Haven has some quaint shops. I have been coming to this park ever since my now Wife, invited me to come up when she was younger. We've been married 30 years now, that should tell you something. Very nice campground.

This is our favorite beach and campsite. Beautiful walks and views from the tops of the dunes. Also the beach is a rock-pickers dream - lots of beautiful pebbles!

Really nice facilities at the beach access entrance and an amazing view from the trail leading down to the beach. The water seemed warmer than at the South Haven North/South beach access sites. Maybe due to the amount of flat stones being warmed by the sun near the shore or from the power plant discharge, either way it was the warmest ive ever known Lake Michigan to be. If you prefer walking on flat stones instead of dry dusty sand this is a better beach for you.

Nice campground, nice staff. its a little bit of a walk to get to the beach but not horrible. There is a lot of highway noise at night and can be heard throughout the night but other than that, no complaints. Wood is available for sale at the front office for $4 dollars a bundle (at this time). Wood is also for sale by surrounding residents for cheaper.

As far as State parks go, I feel it was lacking and should have more. It Seemed very one dimensional with the main focus being on the shore line. There are what appeared to be many hiking trails but from what I could see there were no signs or maps indicating any trail info so you're on your own to navigate.

The positive is as you can see from photos this is a great place to view sunsets and hang at the beach on a hot summers day. The colors here are amazing. Also if you enjoy searching for cool stones then you will be in heaven here. There is a mixture of mostly white and some black sand that lines the beach and looks really cool mix together. The beach is very clean and well kept by the park service. I think the coolest thing here which seems to be neglected is the huge sand dunes hidden all around you in the nearby forest. It was awesome and seemed a bit unnatural to be surrounded by trees with a huge maintain of sand that goes up 50' starring down at you daring you to climb it. But again there are no maps or signs to direct you to any of this as there should be.

If your looking to visit a beautiful beach or camp then this is perfect but if your looking for a little more depth as far as activities go then you may want to consider elsewhere. Enjoy!!
