A true gem of Southwestern Virginia! Easy to access from Roanoke or the New River Valley, Alta Mons has everything for your next personal, family, or team activity: Amazing Summer camps, swimming pool, ropes courses, miles of trails including the trail to Styles Falls, picnic pavilions, meeting rooms and cabins to rent, and rustic and fully-equipped sites for your tent or RV. It's our go-to place to unplug, recharge, and soak up some nature.

This past summer, I worked at Camp Alta Mons as a camp counselor. The camp itself is clean, accommodating, and easy to find. There is always something fun to do, such as canoeing, hiking, or swimming. Regardless of your outdoor / camping experience, I would highly recommend applying, or even just visiting!

Amazing atmosphere! Kind people! Send your kids to camp, take a retreat with your church, build communication with your small business on a ropes course, hike to a beautiful waterfall, or enjoy a picnic in a truly welcoming place! The staff really make this place feel like a home away from home.

Don’t just visit! Make this place your “go-to” spot!

Absolutely beautiful area! So glad we discovered itthanks to a friend. Even though it is Labor Day weekend, it was quite and peaceful. The hike to the falls was pretty nice, and not too difficult.

Went camping here. Disgusting. The bathroom and two showers are small, water all over everywhere, stained or peeling away (even the toilets), have a putrid smell, and unsanitary. I understand it's camping, but when you offer facilities that are dirtier than a portable toilet tipped over that's saying something. The pool was closed, nothing more to do than hiking to the falls or the river that ran beside the campground. People kept coming and going in the middle of the night because the bathrooms are so far away. Just make sure to bring your own grill unless you want to walk and hunt one of the few available. Out of all the campsites I've visited, this did not meet any of my expectations and deserves a mere 1 star. This is simply because while the facilities and activities provided are minimal, far away, or disgusting it is still camping away from home. It will, however, prevent my family from ever going back.

Alta Mons offers a great camp experience along with Christian values and education for kids from K-12. My kids have attended as campers for the last 10 years and love it so much, are now on summer staff. I highly recommend Alta Mons as a summer camp experience for kids of all ages. They will never forget it and will want to go back for years to come.

The Alta Mons property is also open to the public to hike and picnic. It's a beautiful place to spend the day.
