This place is fun, so many ornaments! Last year I got my favorite ornament of all time, my glittering avacado. The kids love it, too. I wish some things were more affordable, but that's to be expected.
Great place to visit once a year for a holiday tradition. Tons of ornaments. Every kind of Christmas accessory you can think of. Beautiful lights
We have been to VVF several times this season and the service has been excellent. All of the staff that assisted us were knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating.
Christmas is here when the Christmas shop opens it's doors. One stop shop for everything to decorate for the holiday season. Wonderful staff. I make sure to visit at least one time during the holiday season.
I've been coming for over 30 years. This farm is festive with unique holiday displays. It is pricey but they really do have EVERYTHING. I always feel more Christmas-y after I visit! Love it!
Went to valley view farms last year 2016 spent over $2000 dollars in decorations went back 2 weeks later and spent $1500 on Christmas tree then paid jeff to come out to my house to help decorate the tree not to mention paid extra money to have the bows made loved the tree and decorations this year called beginning of September to have jeff come out to help me with the bows and ribbon on the tree again left several messages got no returned phone call back from jeff call back 3 weeks later and was told that there was only 3 people there that came out to your house to help with decorations an that they really did not like doing that it was a pain and busy time of year with that said they didn't mind me spending almost $4000 last year and it was nice to have me mention in the local paper for buying all the red and gold ornaments I was planning to go this year a buy purple ornaments I guess they dont value there customers didnt even deserve a phone call back by jeff with recommendations
I was very happy with my purchase. The staff was informative and very helpful.
.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and a beautifully cared for large selection of plants and any garden- or yard-related item you can think of.
Valley view has a great selection and plenty of staff in their main building that are always eager to help. So if you're wondering the 3 stars. The employees that I spoke to were very helpful and eager to answer my questions with false information
I purchased a Sarracenia (pitcher plant) that I have been pining over for a long time but had trouble swallowing the $30 price tag. While browsing for my perfect pitcher I spoke with two employees, asking the same questions. I have never seen a pitcher plant floating in water, only ever potted. I asked if placing my plant in potting soil would be OK or does it need to be left in water. I was informed potting soil would be fine for my plant. FALSE. Potting soil will kill your pitcher plant they require a very specific blend of soil that is poor in nutrients and slightly acidic. Point two, I asked if my plant would be ok inside on my kitchen table with two window paned doors worth of light. I was told that would be fine for the plant. FALSE. Pitcher plants need LOTS of direct sunlight, it is highly recommended not to purchase these plants as indoor plants because they will die! Third, water requirements, I didn't directly ask this but it would have been nice to know that pitcher plants are very fragile when it comes to water, they can only take rain water, distilled water or water that's been treated by reverse osmosis.
Had my questions been answered correctly I would have put off purchasing my plant until I had all the proper requirements for it. At this point I'm scrambling around looking for the proper soils, have my plant outside hoping it doesn't dry out too much because I don't have distilled water and need to wait for the next rain to start collecting rain water that I never imagined needing to do.
I do take my blame in this for not researching before hand but I wrongly assumed that I wouldn't be given false information about a pricey plant by employees working in a nursery. That was my bad. While I would recommend them for buying great quality flowers, I do not recommend you follow there instructions for caring for the plants. Otherwise you may be looking at a very expensive very dead plant two weeks later. I would not be surprised if the employees are instructed to make "educated guesses" instead of being upfront and honest about not knowing the needs of the plants. I understand that it's hard to remember the needs of so many plants, but please! be upfront about not knowing! I'm not someone who can make that kind of splurge often and now i'm looking on spending more on special dirt and water requirements. Not thrilled.
Awesome staff and cool around the holiday season, especially Halloween and Christmas
great store. every ornament you can think of. its a christmas time tradition in my wife's family. they love their hot cider. we go every year. be prepared for a crowd.
Our family comes here about once a year in early December to shop around for fun Christmas decorations. It's an easy drive off of the 695/83 beltway. The parking lot is sufficient except at extreme periods of traffic. There is a police officer near the building helping to direct vehicles to open spaces (but it doesn't seem necessary).
The staff is very friendly and willing to help. Returns are promptly completed at the front with no hassle. The inside is VERY decorated for the season, so kids love it there. Kettle corn popcorn is made and sold in front of the building.
The staff are very attentive and helpful without being overbearing or snobby. You just get the sense that the people who work there are passionate about plants; that passion is exuded and transmitted to its customers. Huge selection, one of biggest in region. Also incredible water plants area, and the live fish were truly outstanding. Wish I had the money and lifestyle where I could actually use everything they offer.
Think they could have a better selection of pots, that would be my only complaint (and it might just have been a bad week).
This place is a Baltimore institution, and the (sometimes) long drive is worth it, no matter the season.
My favorite time to go is Halloween when they have all kinds of pumpkins every kind of spooky decoration imaginable.
Or maybe it's Christmas with the cheerful displays of ornaments filling every row, Christmas trees, garlands and wreaths - it's Christmas cheer everywhere.
Or maybe it's spring when the large outside area if full of wonderful healthy flowers that make even the most inept gardener want to turn their backyard into an explosion of color.
The staff is always friendly and helpful, and if there's stuff for every price range.
This is a must go!
