I dropped into the visitor center for info on the trails. Rangers were very helpful & informative, although the lady ranger did drop me when friends of hers came in to get hiking permits. I
A bit rude I thought!

One of the most gorgeous places in New Mexico, now operated by the National Park Service. Well worth a visit!!

The person working the counter was friendly and we lucked out and got the last few passes for our convoy of cars. There were cute groundhogs just outside and a telescope to view the elk who were in the caldera. It had some nice exhibits to learn about the rocks and surrounding area.
