Beautiful place. Great for people with kids or just want an easy hike. There is some climbing especially towards the end but they have more trails where is pretty flat and no climbing needed. Had a blast here and great views!

This monument is well worth the drive. The park staff and volunteers are very helpful. The hike to the dwellings is enjoyable and scenic. The first set of cliff dwellings are fairly easy to get to, but the furthest one involves climbing very long ladders. So for any that don't like heights, they might want to pass on this part.

Fantastic place to spend the day. A hike up the creek is really nice and checking out the ruins of the Pueblo Native Americansis quite fascinating. The hike and climb up the ladders to the alcove house is especially cool. That in itself is an experience you will most likely never forget.
I have been to Bandelier at least a dozen times and it's still a lot of fun to check out.

Tour of pueblo is very interesting. Takes about 1 hour. Need to climb stairs and some ladders to see inside the buildings. The walk around the stream is very pretty.
Campground is primitive but well maintained. Sites can be tight and very few pull thru spaces.
You can not take a trailer into the pueblo area, and a large motor home would have difficulty getting down to the pueblo. Road is steep and narrow.
We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed it very much.response / report this review -

This is a great place to go With kids of all ages. Make sure you stop and get the junior ranger packet 1st and don't forget a pencil. Bring plenty of water and plan to walk over a mile on almost every trail. It's far enough away from town that I would recommend packing lunch. I just want to get enough words on this post so that I earn extra points please like my post as helpful. Yay for national parks

It is beautiful here. Where else can you take a ladder up into cave dwellings? The only way to get here is to take a shuttle up into the park. Easy.

A great experience!!! First, the Frijoles valley is amazing and worth a visit. Then the cliff dwellings are fascinating. I was not expecting a lot but was pleasantly surprised.
The climb up and down from the alcove is not for the faint or fearful of heights but is totally worth the climb.
We hiked the Frey trail down into he valley and then took the shuttle back to the car, this worked out great and the hike down was not too strenuous.
If you have more than an hour or two hike past the alcove deeper in Frijoles.response / report this review -

Absolutely breathtaking! The hikes vary to the various artifacts. Bring lots of water. Also, if you are not used to higher elevations, you may experience difficulty breathing. Take your time and plan on spending at least a full day, there is so much to see.

Great hike! The park ranger had free loaner copies of the trail guide to do a self-guided tour with certain markers indicating part of the guide. We got there at 4:30, so taking a shuttle was not necessary because it was after 3pm. I parked right in front of the visitor center, where the trail begins. It was not crowded at this time. We spent about 2 hours here, did the full loop hike + half of the Frey Trail. Next time, I want to make sure we check out the Alcove house (my 66yo mother was too tired to go on more).

Heads up: Unless you're camping, you park at the White Rock visitor center and take a shuttle into the park.
There are many great hikes here. The most popular is the loop trail in the back of the Bandelier Visitor Center. The pueblo is beautiful and there are some dwellings you can enter via a ladder.
Be sure to take the trail extension to the Alcove house where you will climb a series of 4 ladders to the top. It is a great time.response / report this review -

Pretty awesome to see how and where these people in New Mexico lived hundreds of years ago. A good hike for all age groups. I'm forty and my youngest was 2. Even the two year old was able to climb up the ladders to the caves

Fascinating place. Bring a camera. One full day should give you enough time to explore the main features. Stay longer if you want to do more hiking or camping. My kids (7 to 15 years old) enjoyed it!

Overpriced for what you are visiting. The website isn't clear that you have to pay to get in (after hours). The instructions stated to no pay until you find a camping spot, so we followed the instructions found on their website. It turns out you have to pay $20 to get in, then an additional camping fee.
Not only this, but we had mice problems in our RV! This is the only place I have dealt with mice, and after a sleepless night here, we left!
The attitudes of the park rangers are rather negative. I would not take my family here again. The only good thing about this place was the park hosts who were rather nice, and being able to climb into historic structures.response / report this review -

We were here Mother's Day weekend and loved it! The shuttle was great,I would not have wanted to navigate that road! The hike in was easy and the ruins,history and preservation was amazingI bought quite a few books at the visitor center for my six year old granddaughter and we are pouring through them right now.! Great place to visit and take your kids!
