In 1991 I became a therapeutic parent through the Utah Youth Villege….I learned and used the Boys Town Model with my first 4 foster children. after learning to use it well and consistently, there was nothing but progress in their behaviors. The program teaches you to be fair and fairness makes it easy to shut down negative behaviors and encourages good, wholesome behaviors. I adopted all 4 of those boys, but I went on to adopt 8 more children. I used “the model” with everyone of them.
It MADE ME A BETTER PERSON, not to mention a better mother and you should see my family! Utah Youth Village would be proud! All of them are good citizens and raising their own families with the same fairness that we learned long ago. Thank you!!
