I just love bookstores anyway, but besides books this one also has other products for sale typical of university bookstores. They carry UW branded clothing and other items, art supplies, and greeting cards. The store has two levels.

Reply to owner: then call it something like “UW Swag: Apparel for the Simple-Minded” and drop the word “BOOKSTORE” as people tend to think you’re running a “BOOKSTORE” when your name has “BOOKSTORE” in it.

This is not a bookstore. They say it's a bookstore, but when you walk in you're basically punched in the face with red/white UW swag. Staff is bored college kids more interested in being on their phones than helping people. Seriously, can you just keep it over by the university and make this a real bookstore, please? Why does everything have to be about college sports all the time? How about actual academia or just simple reading pleasure? There's a better selection of books on those spinny rack things at Metcalfe's.

Came into buy some art supply’s on Wensday, I asked for some help with someone. The person that didn’t help with my wants, needs are and I have told this person what I wanted offered me other things that I didn’t need or want.

This person was more interested in being on their phones than helping people, just wanted to look up social media or the web on her cell phone.

I would like to retry this location, but I see this person I will walk out the door. This female person was wearing a green shirt with tan pants.

Also, I hope that you make a new policy that cellphones a not permited it on the sales floor, they “Must be locked in their car or locker.” This would go into affect immediately.

Scholars beware: "Bookstore" is an historical holdover, apparently. The nearby Target sells more (And better!) books. This place is 90% college football merchandise.

Basically everything you'd want from UBS, minus the crush of students that the downtown location has. No textbooks here, but it's got plenty of merchandise and a relatively good selection non-school books. Your best choice if you want to buy UW-branded stuff quickly and without the downtown hassle.

I found their policy regarding the renting of caps and gowns highly disrespectful and exploitative. They very shrewdly made the 'due date' for reservations two days prior to the due date for dissertation committees to announce whether their candidate may defend. This means that hundreds of PhD students are required to opt for a late reservation, for which the bookstore takes another $15 (making the cost $75 in total).

The pick up process is then entirely disorganized. You are forced to wait in a line for about 45 minutes to pay in full and receive only your cap. Then you are sent to another line to receive your gown. Then we were asked to come back the following day to receive our hoods. After waiting in my third line I was told that the hoods would not be available until the day of graduation.

In addition to receiving terrible service and being overcharged, I'm treated as one of hundreds of irresponsible delinquents who should have made my reservation by the due date (which they know very well fell two days prior to the date at which we would know if we would need a reservation). As I see it, this is the behavior of a monopoly that has no respect for the students they are supposed to serve. I recommend that students find an alternative source to rent a cap and gown from and that the university, itself, eventually provide their own outlet for such reservations.
