Good food and always fun with hibachi chefs. Be prepared for a dinner experience, not a quick bite.
They lost our reservation and instead of apologizing the manager basically told us "Oh well." We ordered mojitos and they were awful! When we complained our waitress said it was because the guy who made them only works one day a week. Not our problem THEN the hibachi cook forgot to make my food altogether. Never again will I ever come here. They could care less whether you leave happy or not. The only good thing was that our waitress was a sweetheart and very nice.
I love going here with my mom or dad. I know one of the men who makes the sushi. He always makes mine super special. I love it.
Great good. The show is what you go here and get hibachi for. Cheffs are entertaining and do a really good job preparing your food. As it is dinner and a show, it is on the pricer side, but certainly worth doing
The sushi is also really good; one of the better places in Lansing.
Visited the restaurant for the first time last night with my family. Was very disappointed in our hibachi man. Not once was any sort of fire used. He cooked my noodles first and immediately put them on my plate. By the time (20 min later) our food was finished, our noodles were ice cold and not worth eating. A waitress also came out and told my husband and I that we were not allowed to share food and had to only eat our own plate. If I'm paying for this, who cares who eats it? I would have mentioned this to ANYONE while I was there but not once did we get asked how our meal was. I would love to be contacted by Ukai to further explain the situation.
I love this restaurant. I've turned my parents onto it as well. Great food and a fun atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Ordered take out sushi, it was warm/room temp. Pretty sure it's supposed to be kept cool/ cold. Not ordering from here again, don't want to risk food poisoning.
This was my first time at Ukai, and everything I tried was delicious. I had the grilled shrimp bowl, and my family shared a plate of sushi. It was a lot of food for a good price, and I fully intend on returning and trying more of their dishes.
I had a really great time while I was there. It was entertaining and delicious. It was a four/five course meal (soup, salad, appetizer if you wanted, dinner and ice cream). I will definitely go back if I had someone I wanted to impress.
Always love eating here whether it's the sushi or the hibachi side. Good service pretty much everytime and delicious.
Enjoyed 2 interesting brews: "The dude's Rug" (a spiced cider) & " Zombie Killer" ( a light mead). Both were refreshing after a late night at work.
Then I thoroughly enjoyed the seaweed & octopus salad.VERY TASTY. Moved on to the sushi: Spider roll and the Atomic Bomb roll. Both were fantastic!!!!! The right touch of spice on both.
I always enjoy good sushi as I remember my father, Richard, who taught my the appreciation of good sushi, how to properly use chop sticks, and many other things through life.Missing you Dad (These 10+ Years) but remembering you fondly tonightStill Loving You ALWAYS
GREAT FOOD.try it sometime.
PS.Mitch is a great bartender and fantastic on customer service as are the sushi chefs and the other staff..
It's not very often that this happens, but my husband and I got an exclusive dinner show. There weren't any more guests that were arriving and we had been sitting for almost 15 minutes and since no other customers came in, we received an exclusive show. The show was comical and thrilling. Delicious food!!!
The sushi and hibachi are the very best in town. The hibachi chefs are always entertaining and polite. The bartenders here are absolutely fantastic with impeccable service. Try the purple haze sake.it's wonderful. I've never had a bad experience at Ukai and frequently chose Ukai to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
This is the more expensive but nicer of the sushi options on the westside. The chefs take care with your sushi order and for the most part the wait-staff is good. For a while they had a really rude server and a couple very hapless ones, but things seemed to have smoothed out the last couple times I've been there. Minus one star for inconsistency. :P But I cannot say enough positive things about their sushi chefs! If you're a regular, you might even get a special treat from the chefs now and again ;)
