First off i just want to say i have been a member with USAA for 10 years. i sold a car over a year ago and cancelled the insurance the same day. I told them to give me a non drivers policy. they didn't do it and left the insurance on without me knowing and it went into cancellation mode. it ended up costing me over $200 just to get something current that i didn't have. I let that one go and stepped away for a year.. i called to use them again today and they have me in pay in full status because of this mistake. i spoke with Manager Jim k, and he was extremely rude and didn't care at all about the situation. i asked to speak with someone else and he said i wouldn't speak with anyone but him. i bank there now and my entire family uses them. Its disappointing when you have all of your financial products at one place that treats you with such disrespect. you are just another number when it comes to these guys!
I have been a member for over 30 years. Nobody in my family has been at fault in any collision. They have been great at collecting premiums from me, but when my daughter at college had her car hit in the parking log (she wasn't even in the car) the woman that hit her took responsibility, tracked my daughter down, gave her insurance information and drivers license info to my daughter. When my daughter (18) called USAA to ask what to do they opened a claim and charged us $300 deductible instead of contacting the other woman's insurance. I couldn't find any escalation phone numbers, and they kept me on the phone refusing to give me a phone number to escalate my claim. They said I could only leave a voicemail with a manager and get a call back in 24 to 48 hours after keeping me on the phone more than an hour. They also refused to give me any other phone number to call.
I recently had a fantastic experience with USAA. We had a large deposit that we were in dire need of accessing. Under normal conditions this deposit would have been held for about a week before we could access it. I spoke the wonderful people at USAA and explained my situation. They went went the extra mile to ensure we had access to the funds. A normal bank would have never done this. We will be with USAA for life!!
This is the corporate offices of a USAA, not just any USAA, but THAT USAA.
It is the bank, corporate offices, and, of course, restroom.
Oh, and they sell insurance.
And, for the little ones, lollipop.
No beer for the big ones, but they have coke available.
I spent entirely too much time!
To recap, clean, friendly, and they put up with children of all ages.
Enjoy.
What a great giant place. I was there for two hours and I didn't than 1% of that facility. Multiple restaurants, cafeterias, snack machines, and breakrooms to keep you full. They even have a company store in case you need a gift or two. A shuttle to help you get around from the buildings, and bicycles for the employee to get around. Beautiful grounds if you need to unwind, also tennis courts and a basketball court. I saw a wellness area where the nurses can help you. Looks like a great to work.
USAA does most things right. This was just a drive thru visit to make a deposit. Lines were long, but moved quickly. Always friendly service.
A very hesitant two stars. They got the extra star because I had one claim years ago and was handled very efficiently and to my satisfaction.
After many years with USAA I'm slowly but surely moving all my insurance needs to other companies. As I've told every representative I've spoken to their company is just not keeping pace with the competition. This includes rates and their antiquated website that hasn't been updated in years. My biggest complaint is the way they handle billing. We have multiple properties and multiple vehicles. The fact that they dump all your premiums including change amounts and obscure surcharges into one bucket creates an accounting nightmare in my case. I can't pay a specific policy premium online. Any amount paid goes towards the total in the bucket which might include an auto policy, homeowners, liability, jewelry, etc, etc, etc. No other insurance company bills this way. Frankly, I think it's slightly shady because it makes it difficult to tell what you're actually paying for. I was recently told by a representative that there's a way to accomplish paying for a specific policy but I would need to call in and have a representative handle it over the phone. WT???? are will still in the 70's? That's just nuts.
You also can't handle some simple tasks online including cancelling. I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with a representative just trying cancel my auto policy. Same thing a few months ago when I cancelled one of our rental property policies. In that case the representative was very intrusive with a million questions to the point of pissing me off. Most the time the representatives are very nice but it's like talking to a government bureaucrat. Nothing to do but yak on the phone and waste my time with something I should have been able to accomplish online in a few minutes.
By moving companies I'm benefiting from substantial savings (especially on auto) and my life just got simpler. Based on their average star rating on Yelp and Google I'm not the only one that had issues. Maybe if they lose enough customers they'll scratch their heads and ask themselves what they can do to improve.
Great Bank They take care of all my banking business and needs! They really watch over you when you least expect it! My transactions are always handled when due and my renter's insurance is very affordable!
My banking experience at the USAA branch was really good. I also walked away learning how to do something new with my debit card which the teller explained very carefully. The service there is outstanding. I wish I could remember the tellers name since she made the experience so good. She is a good example of the quality of people that they hire there and I'm proud to be a member of this institution.
Great place to work. Opportunities abound. You're recognized for your efforts. New ideas are welcome. Of course, your day is what you make of it. Employees experience is valued.
After 13yrs we will be leaving usaa. About months ago we used the usaa app to deposit a check. As you all are aware the app runs poorly. My wife deposited the check but before clicking submit noticed an error clicked the back button. The app deposited the error without her doing anything. We called right away to ensure their was no problems so it could be fixed twice. The first time they said no problem we will fix it 2-3days. Nothing happened then we call back and the employee named Mark said no worries if it is not fixed it will be considered a bank error and usaa will take fault. 2 months later we are out shopping just before Christmas and they took back the money they said was okay without any notifications. We call the bbb right away and get a phone saying well you are responsible for the money so, they also said they will send snap shots of the app transaction to the bbb but not tonus and we can not hear the phone call when Mark said it will be a bank error and not to worry if not fixed in 7 days. As a veteran of the US Army I will be taking my banking to navy federal credit union. Thanks for not honoring your employees word and blowing your integrity out. You serve yourself not us.
Best customer service of any industry, hands down. We recently shopped around for new insurance needs and found several more affordable options. However, the customer service at USAA kept us loyal. Since they have limited physical locations, computer access is essential. They reimburse you for all ATM fees as well.
Got out of the military and started using a bank back home since it was more convenient. Extremely rude when I went to close my accounts. I know they don't wanna lose people but no need to make me wait forever on the phone. Plus I've never had my card info compromised so much with this Bank. Used to get comprised once maybe twice a year, since leaving nothing. If you're joining don't get sucked into USAA, stay at a local bank you'll appreciate it more in the end.
I don't get the hype about the insurance way expensive compared to what I can get with Ameeican Family with a lot better coverage, car and bike.
TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ANYWHERE BUT HERE!!! I have had an account with USAA for over 30 years. I noticed about 7 years ago that their insurance (especially homeowners insurance) was sometimes triple what other large insurance carriers was. Then about two years ago I noticed a real decline in all of their customer service. But just this month they have finally gone too far. I have had a credit card with the bank for 20 years, it is one of only 3 cards I carry because it has a 25K limit and the other two cards I don't use. So last month I paid the card off, its never been late, and its only been over the limit a few times by a small amount because we use it for our business. With no warning USAA dropped my credit limit to 3600.00. I thought surely their must be a mistake so I called and the EXECUTIVE RESOLUTION TEAM went over my account with me and told me that they also did not understand and that they would have someone review the account and get back to me in 3-5 days. After 7 days, I called and after three attempts got through to them again, explained what was going on and the rep informs me that the reason the limit was decreased was because USAA regularly reviews its accounts and reduces the limits on customers in our to limit THEIR FRAUD LIABLITY. In other words they don't want someone to get my card and charge the full limit and then USAA would be liable for it. THIS IS A FLAT OUT LIE. And even if it was true, wouldn't you think they would at least let you know prior to dropping it? I am a Mortgage Banker with 30 years experience, I don't believe a word of what they say. My credit score is actually about 50 points higher now than it was when they gave me the card to begin with. But I promised them that I would make sure that I told EVERYONE I could about this. I advise all of my clients to go elsewhere for insurance and banking now.
Don't trust anyone on the customer service phone line. The prison I worked at was one of the five that Texas had closed so I was out of work. I did not want my insurance to autopay and had cancelled it online but it came out anyway. I had the funds in the account but using those funds would put myself and my children in a situation where we would be homeless. I was on the phone for quite a long time with the agent who stated that I didn't have to worry, that they were taking back the payment, and not to expect it ever again but because my situation was dire they would take that payment and break it up over the remainder of my insuarance payments so I would not even have to worry about the August payment. She even went as far as to tell me what my new insurance amount was going to be which was about 35 bucks more than normal and I was fine with that. She repeatedly told me that I would not have to make my August payment at all.
I was so thankful as it was really a rough time, in fact without help from friends/family/church I would have been homeless with three small children.
Then I looked at my account, turns out they took back the payment and charged me a returned check fee, they never broke up the payment, in fact she lied, nothing was done except to charge me more money. So now I have to come up with last months amount plus this months plus fees. I don't start at the new prison until next week and the state only pays once a month so I will have to try to make it through until my first paycheck which should be November 1st. But I digress, the issue at hand is she lied to me. I tried to talk to customer service about the promised deal but I was told "Oh no, we don't do that without money up front" I requested someone pull the call to listen as she repeatedly told me about what they were going to do for me and then did not follow through. I don't think they will even pull the call. This is the worst experience ever and has left a very bitter taste in my mouth for USAA. I'm disapointed and shopping around for an insurance company with integrity.
I love USAA but lately they have been very disappointing. Car insurance is great, always had great prices and service. Recently their credit card/rewards department gave me some false information, and I lost about $100 of my rewards. Word of advice: don't trust what the supervisors tell you, just follow the terms and conditions because the supervisors will lie to you. Got all the way to Laurie on the Executive Resolution Department. She was very smart and nice and polite, but she was unable to prove that I was given false information, and would not give me the rewards that I deserved. Said it was my fault and that just because the supervisor lied to me, doesn't make them in the wrong. Oh well. I tried. Hopefully I'll have better luck with them in the future.
If you don't qualify for USAA insurance they will transfer you to Liberty Mutual. If you don't qualify for USAA and would prefer working with a local agent vs. call center then please feel free to call or email me directly.
Used to be great, going downhill over the past few years. Cashiers check policies are not productive. The new system for determining rebuilding cost on home insurance policies is way off, by 100k. It used to be worth paying a bit more for USAA over cheaper alternatives, not anymore.
USAA used to be great; now they are abysmal. Customer service has gone WAY down, basically non-existent. Furthermore, their prices used to be the best, now the aren't even competitive. Look somewhere else as USAA is hoping you still believe they are the best, but they are not!
Could not get USAA to call me back - their IVR system options for "calls for existing claim" send you to voice mail only. Option for "new claim" gets you to their tier 1 people who only submit claims - when they try to forward you to the claims department to speak to the person assigned to your case, you only get VM. Over 30 calls before I finally got an issue escalated to the Director level, because the manager's were ignoring me.
The Chop Shop that they referred me to, not only didn't wash my vehicle before repairing a large dent and applying paint, but damaged the 4 surrounding panels with either dirt/sand scratches from the dirty vehicle, or the chop shop writing "RI" (remove/install) on other panels to remove, except this ink didn't come off. Also, when trying to remove the ink, they used a buffer covered in wet paint, which not only splattered paint all over the vehicle, but all over my face, chest and arms and destroyed my $70 shirt!
Absolute black out from USAA - no call back. I emailed the shop to hold on all contact/repairs with my vehicle and followed it up with a phone call to make sure they understood. 10 minutes later I show up and the shop is trying to cover their damage by washing/buffing, etc. right after I asked them to stop.
Complete blackout by USAA - no call backs. USAA only protects themselves, sending you to their DRP approved chop shops, using non-oem parts and shops that cut corners. Damage was appraised at $1500, the shop did about $400 worth of work. Complete fraud. On top of the original quote, taking vehicle to another shop yielded an additional quote of almost $700 for the additional damage to the rest of the vehicle, plus cleaning up what the 1st shop screwed up. USAA will not protect their member, only their relationship with their shops, who do cut throat work at a fraction of the price.
Customer service at this company has gone to non existent. I have been a member for over 10 years and never been so disrespected by a representative in my life. I called in to cancel my policies and was told I was "past due anyway" which was NEWS to me considering I've never missed a payment and there must have been an error. The rep refused to even explain anything to me and just said he wasn't going to argue with me. Howard Redder should not be in any job associated with customer service.
Last week USAA chose to participate in bullying Sean Hannity over his investigation and coverage of the death of a DNC staffer who leaked materials to Wikki leaks and was subsequently killed under suspicious circumstances. Regardless of where you stand on the veracity of the investigation, in comparison to some of the outrageous myths liberals have advanced, hands-up-don't-shoot for example, (I could give 20) the DNC staff member story has merit.
The Regressive Left isn't ok with 98% of media reporting from the Leftist boilerplate, they insist on 100% compliance.. USAA chose to partner with David Brock and George Soros and their goons to go after a man who has tirelessly fought to bring attention to the issues affecting our service men and women. Hannity has fought courageously to expose the abuses at VA hospitals. He advocated for the sergeant interred in Mexico when Leftist media gave that poor guy suffering from PTSD no attention. He has advocated for border patrol and reported the lies regarding Fast and Furious that were concealed by our govt.and the rest of the media. The rest of the media called him a hack. Hannity has advocated for more resources to help service men with PTSD. He's raised money in Freedom Concerts and visited vets and given his own money to Wounded Warriors while also using his platform to raise thousands of dollars for this cause.
But none of that mattered to USAA. They can't claim to be pro military/vet and then partner with the radical Left who targets average Americans for exercising freedom of speech. They can't claim to be pro-military by enabling Totalitarians to silence the voice of The MOST pro-veteran, pro-law enforcement, pro-military voice on TV. When I think of the men and women who've given their lives for this country at such a terrible cost, I'm disgusted that USAA only serves Vets and servicemen when they can make a buck off them. They've abandoned the principles they espoused to have. They're not willing to take a stand for the values of those men and women who serve and die for freedom. In fact, USAA has empowered Leftists by rewarding them with a scalp.(You see this on the Leftists websites and throughout social media. The Leftists see this as a victory and are celebrating the fact that they're causing Hannity to be fired; the ultimate goal) I'm pulling my money out of USAA. my car, home, and life policies will be discontinued Wednesday. They have abandoned the principles of Liberty and caved too easily to the Leftists for my tastes. The whole sad episode demonstrated to me how inauthentic USAA is.
They've abandoned those who fought and died for freedom by capitulating to tyrants. Good bye USAA, we needed you to be what your marketing claimed you were. I'm unwilling to give you another dime for as long as I live. I could care less if it costs me a few extra bucks in premiums (although I understand from those leaving that some are saving money). It's a small price to pay. In so doing, I support men and women who paid the Ultimate Price.
I have been a member of USAA for 63 years. I have never had a major accident. I was setting still in a parking lot and this woman backed into me and bashed my car. She claimed that I was moving but I had pictures that proved otherwise. USAA made me pay $75 of the deductible because they said I didn't blow my horn! She was 100 per cent at fault because she backed out without looking. Ticked me off. Also, my daughter had her car totalled in Oregon and they paid her $1600 less than wholesale price. The reason? People in Oregon only like 4wheel drive! The thing was totalled, what difference does it make?
I have been a USAA member for 37 years. I have my home, rental homes, cars, and my business insurance through them. Before this year I thought that USAA was the best insurance company there was. But I had an accident a month ago. First accident for me on USAA insurance. They have low balled my car by using an outfit called CCC in Chicago (which has a terrible reputation for low ball appraisals). They won't use dealer comps, they wont accept KBB or NADA values. This CCC just makes up a number. CCC didn't even use comps for a vehicle with the three main features of my car (navigation, leather seats, sunroof). I assume that USAA has hired someone from one of the other companies that I have always avoided to run their business now. Its a shame. I've been low balled by about $2200 on the settlement. That's not ok.
