I think this place would be the bomb if they had bartenders with some talent. To stand there for 15 min, waving and hollering to get a drink is a joke. The bar tenders work with their heads down. They dont make eye contact. You can literally wave your hand 2 ft from their face and they have no clue you exist.
I am not in the bar business but you should have a bartender every so often and 1 who can float back and fourth to the heavy spots.
Place has good vibe and people seem friendly. I was to put out by the bartenders to bother to take a picture.response / report this review -

A favorite place to enjoy a margarita or two… They are moderately priced ,but go easy as they will sneak up on you ! Drink responsibly. The Chili is legendary in these parts, Don’t fail to give it a try. We always start with the jalapeño poppers. Keep your frozen margarita handy!
It’s a good idea to find out who will be performing live, and when, ahead of time. It will get loud and lively! If you do it right, you’ll be stuffed and slightly buzzed , and can walk it off on the now-famous Main Street of Grapevine.response / report this review -

Reliable food offerings with an emphasis on heart and filling meals. Very nice staff who always interact with my toddler and make us feel welcome. Live music every night (I think) so this is always a fall back place to take people from out of town for an easy night out.

Great bar/resturant! Above average bar food, great drinks and selections. They have bands every night so it does get loud in there. If you want to have a conversation may want to choose another place. All the bands I've seen there are really great, just loud. I visit once every month or so.

Excellent restaurant! Came there during the week for lunch with my husband and a friend. I had the special for the day which was a tequila lime chicken that was unbelievably delicious. Our waitress and the rest of the staff was beyond friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back again!

Decent chili. Has been better in the past. Family owned and operated since the beginning. Great history. Located in historic neighborhood with good shoppingbootions.

The live music ruined our meal. To be fair if we would have known there would be live music we wouldn't have come in the first place.
The food was sub-par. Salty burger, oily asparagus and a fairly rough pot roast.
The music wasn't horrible but was so loud it was impossible to enjoy.
Couldn't hold a conversation with the person next to me and had to repeat my order several times to the server.
If you really like live music and drinking then this is probably your place, but if you're coming for a nice meal and to enjoy other's company then cross this place off your list.response / report this review -

This place is in the centre of Grapevine, has a cool ambiance and live music. Service is friendly, but the food is just average. Not a bad place to hang out, and if you are just looking for a drink and live music, then it's great. If you are looking for a great dining experience then it's not at the top of my list. Does some decent basic menu items at decent prices, but nothing really outstanding

They claim to have world class chili I can honestly say it's the best I've ever had. I also ordered a ribeye that ended up being outstanding. Our waitress provided excellent service and overall it was a good experience. The only downside I could mention is finding parking If you're a visitor to the area be ready to circle downtown for a while to find an empty spot. Of course, this isn't the fault of the restaurant, just a warning for those visiting.

Really good chili. Salmon came out cooked to a nice medium per my request but, absolutely zero seasoning on it. Fortunately it was cooked well so a little salt and pepper from the table made it very good. The bar and kitchen staff messed the orders up a couple times over but, our server was on point and caught the slip ups as he was dropping the food off and corrected them without us having to ask. I won't knock em for their choice of live music; to each their own. =)

Fantastic Grapevine bar and restaurant. Gastropub menu and epic craft beer selection on tap. Best Texas Red Chili in the state of Texas, really. Good live music options many nights of the week.

Only average today. Chili not warm or hot. Chicken Fried steak did not have a crispy crust. Sweet potato fries held too much grease.

Here's my deal with Tolbert's: It is a fun place for live music and drinks. We love to see various tribute bands here. For dinner, however, it is terrible. I have eaten lunch or dinner at Tolbert's now between 5 and 10 times. So I've given it an honest chance. The food is horrible. Eating it invokes Jon Taffer Bar Rescue kitchen scenes in your mind. Skip the meal and come for the drinks and music.

Tolbert's has a wide variety of options on the menu, and just about everything I've tried is pretty good. The famous chili is very meaty (so be prepared) with a little spice. It's quite good. They also hand-toss the buffalo strips (listed as an appetizer), which are also good. I also recommend starting with the chips and salsa/queso.

Escape was there tonight. Totally awesome!!! Food was great! Can't go wrong with the fried zucchini as a side. We had the taco salad and a bacon cheeseburger. Burger was cooked to the right temperature. Overall we can't wait to have another night out at Tolbert's .
