Cabins are right on top of eachother. The people in the cabin next to ours were siting around their fire and it was directly in front of our cabin. They say they provide you with a full kitchen, but we didn't have any mugs or pans to cook.
They throw all unused wood into the trees so the next people can't use it. So when you are hunting for sticks there is all this water logged fire wood in the tree line. Why not let the next camper use it?
Showers have bad water pressure.
I think that's about it on the cons.
The pros were the pool for kids. The camp store is reasonably priced.
Writing this in regards to the canoeing/kayaking. We had the BEST time! Staff were super friendly and helpful. The best part really is their location on the river. We were the ONLY ones on it the ENTIRE 10 miles- no traffic at the chokepoints in the river, no loud and annoying drunken parties on the river, no rude campers waiting on the river to ambush you with squirt guns Just a pure, true, relaxing kayaking experience with beautiful scenery. HIGHLY recommend!!!
Just came home from our 3rd visit in three years. A wonderful family campground just far enough away from all the action to relax. Wonderful staff, clean facility. Cant wait to go back for a longer stay next month!
Love this place. The staff is very friendly and helpful . site's are good size. I recommend this place to anyone who wants rest and relaxation .
This place shouldn't even be rated one star. My parents/family have been camping here for years and the way we were treated this time around for something we didn't know was uncalled for. VERY rude staff. Could have politely told us when they were driving around checking cars that we needed to register a car even if we were just visiting for a few hours instead of rudely telling us that we needed to go to the store and register it. AND on top of that accuse my aunt who rented a campsite that she was lying about her car pass being stolen. When my boyfriend and I went to register his car they were extremely rude when asking questions that we didn't know and had to call and ask my dad. It was very uncalled for and rude for a business to treat their customers this way.
Very nice place to camp. Very friendly staff.
I held my vintage trailer rallies at Toodik Campground for three consecutive years( 2014-2015-2016 ) If I had not moved to Georgia, we would still hold our rallies at Toodik. We loved the private feeling, all the shade and other accommodations.
Ive known Bill&Brenda since 2008 and don't listen to these negative reviews i worked at this camp ground and camped here. All i have to say is that there campground is great! The canoing and the camping are fun and as a worker there at one time i truly have to say it was one of my favorite jobs of all time. And as an employee that has worked there i know there rate of service for clean and great camping experience also they would do anything they can to make your camping experience awesome that's why I'm giving them 5 star review some of the perks from camping there Are. secluded camping most of the time useless its a busy weekend there is clean pool putt putt golf family activities canoing and a lot more the prices are good but camping at Camp Toodik is a great camping experience
Positive: The pool is nice, the camp store has a lot of practical things in it, the campground is secluded and very shaded. The sites down on the river are nice and large.
Negative: The campground is outdated, the lots above and not on the river are small/short which would make it hard it you have a large camper, the drive to the river sites is VERY steep with gravel/dirt, you WILL need 4X4, we booked and weren't told about the hill and heard it from someone else who was recently there and complained about it also. So I called and expressed our concerns and were told we would have no problem. Even after telling them we do not have 4X4, she still stated we wouldn't have a problem. Well once we got there we started driving down the hill and I knew right away there was no way we were getting back up. Its curvy and steep all the way down, washed out in many places leaving large ruts. I would never take a camper down there again, as we got stuck leaving today. Yes they were very nice to tow us off the hill as we were stuck on an incline (absolutely no way of backing down the hill). We took our 7 month old son out of the car because my wife was terrified the camper/car would go rolling back. Not a good feeling at all! The placement of the electric/water meters are in the middle of each site which makes it very hard to position your camper and leaves cords/water hose running through your site. Bring an extension cord! Also the river isn't clean like the other campgrounds in the area, many dead trees, trash and car parts are littered throughout. Would be better if they cleaned it up and trimmed the brush in front. Bathhouses/bathrooms are clean but old. The bathrooms down by the river don't have sinks which is odd. Quiet time there is very ridiculous, 10:30pm-8am. We went down with our family members for our annual family camping trip. We all have young kids and were accused by the owners that we were playing loud music, which we explained we weren't we had a small radio playing right next to us very quietly. We have a 7 month old son and there was other children under 15. Obviously we weren't going to make any noise to wake them up. We weren't talking loud nor screaming either. We all only get together a few times a year and once a year to take a trip together. Obviously we are going to talk but we aren't going to be disrespectful to the other campers. Then Saturday morning they came again accusing us of yelling at a dog at 6am and up till 2am, which in fact was a site down the river yelling at their beagle who was going off at 6am. They also were the ones partying until 2am. Then we expressed our concerns for being woken up at 9am with fireworks from someone in the primitive site Friday morning and were told anything after 8am was fine, even though there was a rule of not firing fireworks nor a firearm. It became disrespectful when they kept coming to us telling us we were doing something that we weren't, interrupting our family time and ruining our time by pissing us off. Would be nice to get at least a partial refund, but we know that won't happen.
Final thoughts: For the price you pay here, there are other nicer, modern campgrounds in the area. We won't return the camp toodik and hope the owners let future campers know of the massive hill down to the river sites.
We attend Toodik for the On the Road Again Vintage Camper Rally. We love the shady trees and many family activities this campground offers. The playground, putt putt and pool are fun for the kids.
