I love going to this facility to see all the animals.
I think that the dogs could use better living conditions but most only stay for a short time.
Management is a bit miscommunicated, every employee seems to know more or less than the other and information doesn’t seem to pass well.
There is an employee that encourages adopters to declaw their cats which is seen as an inhumane practice by many veterinarians because there are long-term ill effects from it.
Overall though the cats are well-taken care of and it’s a nice place to go see and adopt some animals.

They lied to me. Then denied it.

I adopted a kitten a few years ago. Brought him home, took him to the vet for the rest of his vaccinations. They sent me to a feline cardiologist, he had a congenital heart defect & heart murmur. I called and asked why this was not stated and they said he didn't have it when he was there. He was born with itit certainly was there while he was in their care! They never listened to his heart at all. You could hear his heart murmur just by putting your ear near him. His heart did not lub dub like you usually hear, it sounded like a waterfall.

I would have still taken him had I known this. They don't disclose health issues at all. My Mom adopted a dog there and she had crystals in her bladder. The veterinarians there needs to go back to school and learn how to properly care for animals. They pretty much just run an assembly line of spay/neuter all day long.

They don't care about the animals and don't do any background check at all.

adopted our kitten buddy ( brutis) he fits in to our home like he's lived here from birth gets along great with our 1 year old toy poodle sully we love him so much. Great caring people thank you northwest animal shelter 😊

Support hard to find, roamed kennels, was not impressed. Dogs laying in feces and urine. Felt sorry for these needy dogs. They provide a needed service, but need better management.

Great place but the animals did not look healthy and the staff acted very annoyed with my presence. They sent a little husky mix puppy off with some woman who looked clueless about having a pet they didn't even ask her any questions like if she has ever had a pet like a dog before or how big her house and yard is because husky dogs need a lot of exercise and I don't think she was very responsible and she came in with a cigarette and her body was covered in tattoos they had to ask her to throw out her cigiarette!
Recommend but only if u are responsible enough to have a pet!!!!!!!!!!!! Please be aware of this issue because poor little animals get adopted into neglective dirty homes and just end up back in the humane society or worse in a kill shelter or dead please be aware!!!!

Stopped in this past Friday and fell in love with two 6 month old labs that were siblings. I wanted to adopt them and asked the receptionist for information about them. She seemed annoyed about my question and said they had just arrived from Mississippi. She said I could go "find" someone in the back to let me into their kennel to visit because "they had nowhere else to let me visit with them because all of their adoption rooms were occupied with dogs" (but they have a fenced in area put back?) anyway, so I proceeded to try to find someone and there wasn't anyone available so I asked the ladies in the education room if they could help. The lady rudely responded "nobody is allowed to see those dogs, they just arrived". She proceeded to then go put a sign on their kennel that stated nobody is allowed to visit with them and then shut her door as my daughter and I walked past the education room.
Let me just say that I live an hour and half away, and I shouldn't have been treated so poorly. We would've given those dogs the best life!
I am so torn.
I hope they improve their staffing and re-train to focus on proper interaction with adopters.

All of my furry family have been adopted thru here for the past 30 years. I have been a Foster parent on and off for 20 years. The staff genuinely care for their clientele. They appreciate the help they get and the people they get it from. I always bring them bleach & paper towels and it doesn't cost a lot. They are a Great company to volunteer for.

Adopting my dog here was such a great experience. Everyone is so kind and helpful and the process is quick and efficient. They answered all our questions and made everything go smoothly. I cannot thank them enough for bringing my furry BFF into my life.

I can only speak to my experience with TAHS Cruelty Division. I'm sure they do some good work (considering they have the entire Lucas County to investigate complaints!), however, I'm absolutely disappointed with them in my particular case. For more than a few years, I've been requesting them to check on an elderly dog, whose care and suffering, I feel, are being neglected by its owners. As of today, I've never received a "thank you" for submitting a report, nor have I ever received a confirmation that a visit has ever taken place, even though they have my name, phone number and email address. Having been a dog person my entire life, I feel my opinion in this matter is based on years of experience, especially since I'm in the position of observing this particular dog's treatment on a daily basis. I admit an elderly dog may present a challenge. Still, making their life as comfortable as possible before the end is preferable to the cruelty of allowing them to suffer until that time.

I adopted a sweet spayed cat a month ago. The only thing is, she was not spayed. I know mistakes happen, but that is a big one. I took in a video of her in heat, since I could never get anyone to answer the phone or call me back. I took her in on a Sunday to be looked at on Monday. When I dropped her off, the techs shaved her belly looking for any markings for a spay. They did not see any markings and said she would be looked at the next morning. Three days later, they finally got around to looking at her. My surprise when I called to see if she was looked at today. Oh, she was spayed this morning. Yes, my cat that was adopted out as spayed, but wasn't. Beware when you adopt..

We are patiently waiting for a foster kitten to become available. My daughter and I visit to see if there are any future family members waiting for us. In the meantime of waiting for our kitten. Has been awesome seeing him grow ❤❤EXCITED!
